Oh, wow.
I'm 5'3, pear shaped, and a size 14. Wrap dresses don't work for me. Shift dresses don't work for me. Many empire waist dresses don't work for me. If those other dresses work for you, maybe look somewhere else, but for those of us with short torsos and bottom-heavy silhouettes, this dress might be the answer. I love this dress and can't say enough good things about it: finally, a dress that looks great.
I ordered this down a size based on the other reviews, but not in the petite length. This means the upper half of the dress is a bit roomy, but that works well because dresses like these are designed to 'pouf' at bit at the top to contrast with a more sheer, simple lower half. The skirt length is perfect and the elastic cinching at the waist hits at just the right spot. This dress accentuates my waist, balances my lower half very well, and gives me a slim profile. The best part is the detachable slip that's included, which I can now wear with all kinds of other things. Great for the office, or a winter wedding, or an evening out.

Awful
I read several reviews before I even ordered this dress. I was excited. Then it came and first look at the fabrique and it was 50% over. I tried it on, figured out the little slip, and OMG. It came off faster than putting it on. I am short and muscular build and I looked terrible. Awful.

Great print very poor fit
I LOVE the dress print, fabric and neckline, but the side elastic around the waist makes the dress an unflattering fit. Unfortunately I will be returning this dress.

so cute, my new favorite dress
I bought this dress despite the bad reviews expecting not to like it. It is my favorite dress. Its good for my body type. I'm smaller in the chest and wider in the hips, it gives me a more hour glass figure. It hides my mom belly. (It probably is NOT for a large breasted women, it may feel too poofy or tight at the top. And that may be the reason for the negative comments). It is very comfortable, soft, loose fitting. It looks great with a thin brown leather belt It fits me very well in the shoulders. The V in the front is not too revealing or too prudish either. I got a lot of compliments at work. And my daughters thought it was a "cool vintage dress". Everything about this dress is perfect. I think it can be worn from late spring through early fall. The weight of the fabric is good for warmer months, but the fall colors make it look good with heavier sweaters. I looooove this dress.

Quirky, but Cute..
I can understand the mixed reviews on this dress; you either love it or take it back. I bought two dresses in size 6 and found that one was almost an inch longer than the other. I kept the longer one which was a tad over 39 inches long. Consistency in sizing for identical garments seems not only a problem lately with Lands' End, but a lot of other retailers as well.
The dress has a fabulous print; very retro or Southern chic and can be worn throughout the year.
The waist line is too blousey, but the right belt can fix this.
A cute dress and worth the clearance price. I like mine and will keep it.

new favorite dress
LOVE this dress. I am 5'10" and thought the waist would sit too high as usually happens for tall women, but this one is not bad. The colors are much prettier (and more muted) than in the picture. Fabric is gorgeous and i love that is has the built in slip. Very happy with this dress.

VINTAGE LOOK
I am happy I finally got this dress. I am 5' 51/2" , 135lb, and size eight fit me exactly. The look of the dress on me was vintage and it looked better on me than on LE model. It has an empire fit on the waist that is flattering for my figure. I wear it with a narrow copper belt. I plan to use the coordinating slip on my hair to accentuate the vintage look. Very good for the sale price.

Beautiful with a Frumpy Fit
This dress is gorgeous - on the model. I loved the fabric and pattern, and didn't even mind that it needed a slip on underneath (you know, once I figured out how to actually put the whole thing together!). The person who said the fabric was even prettier in real life was right. Once on, though, it made me look frumpy. I have an medium build, hourglass to pear shape. This dress made me look as if I had no waist, made my chest look even bigger than it is, and overall was not a great fit. I'm a little jealous of those who loved it and can wear it. My advice - try it on first. It was a no-go from the start and has been returned.

Cute, but Shorter Than I Expected
Very pretty print. Nice fabric. I'm busty and the top fit, but did make me look very matronly. I bought a navy cardigan to wear with it, like in the pick--don't do it! The dress hit right at my knee, and I'm short.

Not a good option
I really like the separate slip and the simple but sensible way it attaches to the dress, the dress itself is very poorly styled. The sleeps are tight and there are odd side elastics which sit somewhere between my bust and waist. Poor shaping in this dress makes it look like a potato sack. What a pity as I like the material and the pattern.
