Oh, wow.
I'm 5'3, pear shaped, and a size 14. Wrap dresses don't work for me. Shift dresses don't work for me. Many empire waist dresses don't work for me. If those other dresses work for you, maybe look somewhere else, but for those of us with short torsos and bottom-heavy silhouettes, this dress might be the answer. I love this dress and can't say enough good things about it: finally, a dress that looks great.
I ordered this down a size based on the other reviews, but not in the petite length. This means the upper half of the dress is a bit roomy, but that works well because dresses like these are designed to 'pouf' at bit at the top to contrast with a more sheer, simple lower half. The skirt length is perfect and the elastic cinching at the waist hits at just the right spot. This dress accentuates my waist, balances my lower half very well, and gives me a slim profile. The best part is the detachable slip that's included, which I can now wear with all kinds of other things. Great for the office, or a winter wedding, or an evening out.

Pretty Dress - Frumpy Fit
This dress is a very pretty print, it looked great on the model and on the hanger when I received it. The slip underneath is a bonus, although it does fit small. I am large busted and curvy and was happy to fit into this dress - a size 10, because sometimes I need a size 12 on top. I was happy until I looked in the mirror. Although it fit me, it wasn't an attractive look. It aged me and looked very matronly - I looked like my Grandma in her church dress back in the 60's. The waist came up to right under my bust, the side elastic bunched and gave it a frumpy look, and the short sleeves and ruffled front made me look shapeless. I will be returning it although I love the print and style and wish it looked good on me. It has a vintage look, and I wish I had the figure to pull off the look - I am envious of the ladies who can wear this dress! And the sale price was fantastic.

just ... no.
I was afraid from the picture that the ruffle in front would be too much, and that the dress would be too droopy, and unfortunately I was right. It looks kind of pretty on the model (although she should lose the dark tights), but it looked way too frumpy on me!

Cute style but makes me look like my mother
This dress has a cute style with the ruffle neck but when I put it on, my husband said that I look like my mother (meaning that I looked older than I am). I would like to see a different belt and younger fabric.

Only works in this color
Got this dress in two other colors and the not quite fitting perfectlyness of it stood out. In this pattern the dress looks very nice and has a feminine vintage feel. I would order a size down and be aware the shift does not stretch.

Big In Hips
The fabric is beautiful, the ruffles are nice, but the elastic on the waist fits poorly and makes you look really hippy. I took it back to the store. That doesn't happen very often with Land's End. Try another dress.

Avoid like the plague!
Horrible, horrible, horrible in every way!
I bought this on sale, thinking how could I go wrong at this price? Wrong indeed!
This dress is like a sack and only shaped with a little elastic at the waist and flaring at the side seams. Yes, ruffles are nice, but then the bodice should have some structure to hold them - it doesn't! The fabric wrinkles badly and is very cheap and nasty. I was amazed that each dress came in it's own very special large box (I could not think what I had ordered that necessitated such special packaging when my order arrived). LE, are you trying to convince your customers that they are getting something special? Well believe me you aren't. The packaging is more expensive than the dress. I wouldn't give this dress a second glance in ANY store and can say that even at rock bottom bargain sale price it is not something to be tempted by. I am slim'ish and small busted so should be able to wear almost anything. This dress is so cheap looking and fits so poorly that I am sending the 2 I bought back - pronto!

Odd Fitting Dress
This dress is cute on the model but was very big in the bust area. It is as if the lining is significantly smaller than the fabric on the top part of the dress. If you look closely to the picture you can see it looks baggy on the top. If you like the sloppy look, then this is the dress for you. i returned it!

Awful
I read several reviews before I even ordered this dress. I was excited. Then it came and first look at the fabrique and it was 50% over. I tried it on, figured out the little slip, and OMG. It came off faster than putting it on. I am short and muscular build and I looked terrible. Awful.

Great print very poor fit
I LOVE the dress print, fabric and neckline, but the side elastic around the waist makes the dress an unflattering fit. Unfortunately I will be returning this dress.
