Not to previous standards
The material is soft and pretty (I ordered the wine color) however, as other reviewers mentioned, the pocket material is a thin nylon. I want to wear this jacket outside when it's cold and I don't want to put my hands into thin nylon pockets. I also fear that my keys and other pocket items would put a hole into that material, probably at the most inconvenient time. The top pocket for an MP3 is no longer there.
I will continue to wear my LandsEnd fleece from years ago, I have returned this one.
I'm disappointed in the lowering of LandsEnd quality. I should have read the reviews and heeded the warnings before I made my purchase.

Perfect for the freezing winter temps in Chicago!
I wanted a warmer fleece jacket that I can wear in colder winter temps that didn't feel as bulky as a coat and I found it!! This fleece is warmer than a regular fleece jacket...the material is denser, thicker, but not bulky or still at all. Nice tapered fit, but still roomy. Sleeves are a bit long but just right for me. I like to layer and this works great for that. The wind doesn't seem to go thru this jacket like it does my lighter fleece jackets. Nice fitted look that seems to flatter. Definitely a warm jacket. For taking the kids to school, running errands and normal mom duties, this is a perfect alternative to a coat!

pocket problem
Last year I bought the THERMACHECK jacket and love love loved it. I bought about 8 total (men & womens) for family and myself for company advertising. Everyone loved them. Now THERMACHECK is not available and polartec is. I can't say alot about the material because my jackets been hanging on the door knob since I bought it. The waist tightener is in the pockets and if you tighten it the zipper krinkles up and doesn't lay flat...looks awful. Note: you can't see it bunched up in the picture because the waist is not tightened at all. I was going to order a small thinking I wouldn't have to tighten the bottom but my color is now sold out in small. I had a Medium in the thermacheck and it was perfect but medium is too big in this jacket. I might just have to return it...too expensive to look tacky all bunched up and being a doorknob decoration. VERY DISAPPOINTED. Why fix a GOOD thing...bring back THERMACHECK!!!

GREAT JACKET
JUST RECEIVED MY POLARTEC 200 JACKET TODAY. LOVE IT. I ALWAYS ORDER MY JACKETS ONE SIZE UP BECAUSE I LIKE THEM TO FIT LOOSE. THIS ONE DOES FIT JUST LIKE A LIKE A JACKET TO FIT. THE QUALITY IS GREAT. I LOVE THE FEEL OF THIS JACKET. RIGHT NOW IT IS 18 DEGREES OUTSIDE, AND THIS JACKET IS KEEPING ME NICE AND TOASTY. I WOULD BUY ANOTHER ONE. BOUGHT A POLARTEC FLEECE HAT TO GO WITH THIS JACKET. THE HAT IS A MUST HAVE.

Quality issues!
I bought some Polartec jackets from Lands End years ago and have loved them and worn them to death. When this one came on sale I thought "whoopee!!!" and I bought the dark wine color and the tropical blue color... lovely. The fabric is great and I'm sure it would be very warm, but the jackets are running small. If you decide to buy the jacket, buy a size larger! (NOTE that I've LOST weight since the last time I bought these jackets!) The biggest issue, however, is the pockets. In the old version, the pockets were made of the same polartec material, and your hands stayed nice and warm in them. Now, however, the pockets are a coarse, cheap-looking gray fabric which (a) will not keep your pockets warm, (b) looks AWFUL when the pockets are unzipped and (c) look for all the world as if the garment had been purchased at a two-dollar shop! Lands End, Lands End, your quality used to be SUPERIOR, but ever since you were bought out by Sears, my opinion is that the quality has been slipping lower and lower. BRING BACK THE OLD LANDS END QUALITY!!! I've been buying from you for over 25 years, both at home and in Australia where I live now, and the difference is really SO depressing!

bought 2 of these in previous years--they were great. this one fits weird and doesn't look as good
i bought a dark wine color. the zipper looks lumpy and does not lie flat. when the pockets are unzipped you can see the light grey lining color. if you leave the jacket unzipped, you see the ugly color of the pocket lining. some of the grey pocket lining was sewn in the zipper and stuck out where you could see it on the front, so I had to cut it out with small scissors and should have just sent it back in the beginning. it does not compare with my two that i had in previous years. it even picks up lint more. the sleeves are long, which is fine for me, but they are really long.

Not as nice as last year's jacket
After one washing the zipper is puckered. This jacket is not of the same quality as the fleece I have from last year. The wrists are elasticized instead of finished off and the pocket zippers show.

Nice fabric, awful zipper
Just purchased three of these in different colors. Ones from previous years finally needed to be replaced. The new ones were all washed according to instructions (just like the old ones) and when they came out of the dryer, the zippers on all of them were all puckered up. Makes them look horrible. The Polartec 200 is still nice with no pilling. Would I buy them again? Probably not.

excellent
I bought one for my daughter for Christmas. I loved it so much I bought one for myself as well. She loves hers too!!! I feel it runs very true to size. It's very comfortable, stylish and feminine. PLUS I finally got her out of a hoodie!

Nice jacket
This was a gift for my mother. She liked the jacket very much, but I had to send it back. She is 84 years old and suffers with very arthritic shoulders. The jacket it was just too hard for her to get into. I have ordered a polartec vest instead.
