Size issue. I bought my first pair of these shorts earlier in the summer. I really liked them, but I did notice that the waist stretched so bad that they were almost a size bigger. So then I bought the next size down and they were too small, even after they stretched out. I'm not sure where to go from here. The material washes and wears great, but I am not so happy about the sizing. October 3, 2012
Good fit and the colour I wanted These shorts are dressy enough to wear around town in warm weather. They wash very well and no ironing is needed. August 6, 2012
The shorts sit below the natural waistline. The shorts fit a bit small and sit below the natural waistline. August 4, 2012
I do not like the feel of the material especially on a hot day. The waist lies too low and the shorts are large. As stated above, I am dissatisfied with the feel of the material which is very uncomfortable on hot days. The waist falls too low, and the shorts run big. Since they were relatively inexpensive I didn't return them, especially because I needed navy blue and have not succeeded in finding any other options. July 21, 2012
Like better than I thought and am ordering another color. When I read the reviews I was skeptical, but ordered anyway. And yes, they fit lower on the waist. Not my best look, but I wear T-shirts out almost all of the time so it doesn't really matter. What surprised me was that by fitting lower they fit closer to my body while still not binding, especially when sitting, and so I ended up liking the fit very much. Surprise! I am ordering another pair. July 2, 2012
low rise is unattractive on everyone the low rise shorts and slacks are truly unattractive on everyone over the age of 15 (and not even some of them). i have short legs and a long waist - i simply refuse to purchase anything that is cut this way. please bring back pants, skirts, and slacks that have a waistband that actually fits at the waist, and is made for women, not 15-year old girls. Didn't realize these were "low-rise" shorts. Unattractive fit. The fabric quality was fine, but the fit was NOT what I expected so I sent them back. I did not anticipate a low-rise cut from the description and photo. I am 5'9", have a small waist, fuller & and thighs and, importantly, a LONG RISE (but am not "heavy"). I usually order bottoms, including skirts, in a size larger than my dress size expecting to have to take the waist in. The "low-slung", low rise pants that have been popular for soooo long now are a fit-disaster on me, not cut long enough in the rise/seat, feeling tight in the crotch, and falling unattractively over my curves (if "falling" is the word). Even pants and shorts presented as "classic" by Lands End and others are being produced with the annoying low-rise cut, which only fits well and looks well on very specific, slim and boyish body types (aren't we tired of seeing women's muffin tops and "cracks" when they bend over??!! PLEASE Lands End, it's time to bring back pants and shorts that look good on the rest of us! April 29, 2012
I liked these shorts but... I really wish they were 100% cotton. I live in Texas where it gets 100+ at least 3 months out of the year, there is no room for polyester in this climate. I would buy multiple pairs of these if you had pleated front chino shorts in linen or cotton but the polyester just makes me sweat more than I already sweat. April 18, 2012
Far from Good I ordered these shorts thinking that they would be just like the other 10 pair of Land's End shorts that I own but alas they are not. They are shorter in the rise, the pockets are not as deep and they gap at the waist band. Also, they only came in 2 colors which limits the options. I'm very dissappointed and am considering sending them back. I wish that Land's end would go back to its previous design. Until they do, I won't buy any more. September 13, 2011
very nice shorts I like these shorts and they are of good quality. I just don't like the way I look in shorts these days so that may be why I don't think the fit is perfect for me - perhaps I should have gotten the straight front shorts but they looked a little too long in the ad - these are the perfect length for me - I am 5'6" and have long legs but shorts that hit me right at the knee do not look good - these are a perfect length - but I think they are a little too full looking with the pleats in the front.
