great skirt, especially for the price (sale) A wonderful skirt, extremely wearable, not the heavy wool of childhood in the 50's and 60's. Beautiful durability and wearability (and washability, I assume). Unfortunately for me and those of us with a distinct (i.e., small) waist it runs large in the waist. For this reason I had to return it, and sadly so. For those with more of a 'straight up and down' build, this is a fantastic choice! Maybe I could try again (one or) two sizes smaller than my size, but I am reluctant to try, the overall fit would likely suffer in changing sizes to that extent. I will just have to look...and sigh. I would order more than one of these great skirts (plaid, pleated and A-line) if I could. April 30, 2013
Disappointed, too. Ordered three of them! Cheap feeling material - not Land's End quality at all. Pinning the front closed is a must as it opens when walking or sitting! April 24, 2013
Disappointed This skirt fits big and does not hang straight once on the body. Sadly...I will be returning this. April 21, 2013
This is a cotton kilt I just added a Celtic pin to keep the fold-over together and I've worn my kilt the whole St Patrick's Day week. Everyone loved it~~many compliments! It has the full pleated back and sides and the straight wrap-around front (with a button tab instead of a leather clasp but who cares?) which is the style of a classic kilt. But it is in a nice weight of cotton, not wool, which makes it more practical and easy care than a wool skirt, and I can wear it year-round. I always had a kilt as a young girl growing up in Boston and they are harder and harder to find. This skirt is just perfect...a good length for me, just above the knee, and a comfortable fit at the waist, full enough so that the pleats hang well. What a lovely find this is! I'm delighted with it! March 19, 2013
A couple of sizes too small Too tight around the waist. Couldn't get into it and had to return it. December 10, 2012
A great find It is so hard to find conservative skirts that never go out of style and this is one of them! How happy I was to find these. So happy that I ordered two in different colors! December 9, 2012
Well made Beautiful material and attention to details in tailoring. Unfortunately runs small and I had to return it. November 10, 2012
Too big AND too long I feel this skirt would fit someone who: is trying to still fit into a size she has really grown out of; and who wants a skirt that is mid-knee or longer (for most women). I am 6' tall and this skirt is to my knees--not usually the case. Also, the elastic in the back of the waist is very loose. I am a fairly square shape, and can only imagine what someone with a smaller waist than hips would feel like in this skirt. That said, I do like the material and the color (white plaid) is great! Perfect Catholic School Uniforn throwback! Will make you feel young again! While browsing Land's End for a new dress, I stumbled across this gem! As soon as I saw it, I immediately recognized the Classic Navy Plaid and Hunter as two of the prints I was required to wear during my 13 year run as a Catholic School Girl. The nostalgia hit me like a wave of stiff polyester and I knew they had to be mine! I immediately added both prints to my cart. For a week, I anxiously checked first my email for shipping info, and then the mailbox, in search of that gray package! Finally, it arrived! I immediately changed into a pale yellow oxford shirt to try on with the skirts. When I slipped into the first one, I was taken back 25 years in the blink of an eye! It was like I was seven years old again! All I needed were some white ankle socks and black and white saddle shoes like the ones my mom used to buy me at Buster Brown! As expected, it didn't fit quite right on the waist and it was too tight in the hip area, but I would expect nothing else from a school uniform skirt. This is a small price to pay for the chance to recapture my youth. Like most Catholic School alums, I LOVED my days of wearing uniforms and have greatly missed those pieces of my wardrobe. Thanks, Land's End, for creating these classics in adult form. I highly recommend these to any former Catholic School Girls! With all the color options, you're sure to find your Alma Mater's print! Side note: I plan to purchase one more - as a mom of two Catholic School Girls now, and two more on deck, I am excited for the opportunity to match them! We can all wear them to Mass during Catholic Schools Week! Thank you LE!!! September 13, 2012
No Awkward Feeling Here This is a very flattering skirt in every way. It is also comfortable to wear--there's no awkwardness (twisting blouses, cinching waistlines, constant tugging, etc.) about it! July 2, 2012
