To survive winter, warmth is key. (Something we are constantly reminded of every time we step out the door!) But braving the elements shouldn’t mean losing your sense of style. With our Modern Down Coat you can have both. It’s designed to let you look your best even when the weather doesn’t. It features 600 fill power dressed in a sleek, matte shell. But the flattery has just begun. Princess seams and narrower quilting at the waist create a more feminine shape. And by using a higher fill power down, the less you need, which eliminates excess bulk. Design details, including a split seam placket, faux fur trim and buckle belt, enhance the overall look while keeping all of the coat’s “weather-proofing” intact. With fleece-lined pockets at the hips, chest pockets for smaller items, plus one inside pocket for an MP3 player — all with secure zipper closure. 100% polyester shell. Machine wash. (Remove faux fur trim and dry clean separately. Belt is hand wash.) Imported.

Perfect fit This coat is good for cold winters, checked in -20C Russian winter. Thanks to LE for tall sizes, perfect length of the sleeves, and the garment waist is in its place (tall women will understand me). The only thing is faux fur in the hood, it looks awful, I needed to throw it away and to sew a new fur. March 28, 2013
A nice, warm coat, but the sleeves are a little weird This is a lovely, warm coat, nicely cut. I ditched the belt, and even without it, it still nips in enough at the waist that you don't look like a sack of potatoes. It is cut slim, so don't plan on wearing this with a bulky sweater beneath. My only issue is with the sleeve. I am just between 5'3 and 5'4, but I find that the Lands End Petite size small always fits me perfectly. But on this coat, the sleeve is just a hair shorter than I'd like it to be; and the elastic around the sleeve just ruins the stylish line of the coat and makes me more aware of the shortness of the sleeves. I can't figure out why they put it there---there's an interior cuff for warmth. I'm going to keep it, because I fear that the regular length will be too long in the torso, and I got it on deep discount anyway so I'm not complaining. May go see if the tailor can take the elastic out of the sleeve. March 21, 2013
Perfect fit, well made, not warm enough for serious cold weather I'm 5 feet tall, 110 and Land's End petite extra small is my perfect size. I can wear this coat with a lightweight fleece or sweater underneath and the fit is perfect - the sleeves are exactly the right length, the waist hits at my waist and the mid-thigh length is long enough to provide good cover without overwhelming my short frame. The belt makes a nice shape without being restricting at all. The problem for me is that this coat - while very well made - is simply not warm enough to wear when it gets really good and cold. I tried the coat in February in NYC when we had a serious cold snap, down in the 20s with stiff wind and I was freezing. There does not seem to be enough down packed into the arms in particular and my upper body was cold as well. I suppose that because it's designed to be a fashionable coat versus a serious winter coat. I've kept it because of the fit and the styling which are both excellent, but can only wear it when the temp is 35 or above. If there was some way to provide more insulating down and keep the stylish cut and fit of this coat, it would be my full time coat all winter. March 5, 2013
It's a keeper...love it Got this in the brown and it is a perfect shade. I feel like I'll be able to wear this for many different occasions. So happy I was able to get the tall, which makes all the difference in the world. I'm 5'9" with long arms, and these sleeves fall a good 2 inches beyond my wrist- this doesn't happen every day. Wasn't sure if I'd like the belt, and was happy to have the option to remove it, but have found that it is quite attractive with the belt on...it falls in the correct place on my waist because it is a tall. Not bulky, and gives a slimming look. Go for it! February 27, 2013
Flattering and Cozy I wasn't sure what size I would take in this coat so I ordered it in large and another in medium tall. Ordinarily I am a medium regular, but the medium regular was unavailable. Turned out the medium tall is perfect. Out of curiosity when a medium regular was returned to stock, I tried that size, too, and it was not as good a fit. Although the coat does not have enough down everywhere, I have been shifting it around where needed. The only negative is the zipper. It is of poor quality and is not durable. The essential down long coat and the chalet coat have superior zippers but are not as flattering on me. February 13, 2013
A little big but very comfortable! I purchased the Evergreen Forest XS in Petite. I'm 5'0 and 114 lbs and this jacket was still a bit big on me! I don't mind since I can definitely wear a thick sweater and still be comfortable. I bought this jacket because I wanted something that will cover up from my knees up (as anything longer would make me look a lot shorter) for my commute. This coat is very warm, comfortable and versatile. The fabric is great because it's easy to get rid of dog hair that might get on it. I'm glad that it doesn't have a fleece because the last time I purchased one of those coats, it was way too warm for me and I'd always end up sweating like crazy by the time I got home from the train. The only thing I didn't care for was the belt. It looked weird on me but I'm glad that it's easy to remove and you can't even see the belt loop in the back! I love this coat and this color! I highly recommend! February 12, 2013
I love this coat! This year in Toronto we are having a cold winter. Last year was relatively mild, and the lighter coat I bought from L.E. was perfect. As I age, I feel the cold and also with a young dog needing daily exercise, I have to get out, rain or snow. I found this coat on sale, and am just so happy I bought it. I made the mistake of ordering it in small, tall instead of regular. When I received it, I tried to exchange it for a regular, but it was out of stock. I kept it and am so glad I did. The longer length is great with leggings and booots. I did find the zip tricky at first, but you just have to do it a few times. The lighter coat I bought last year had a fleecy lining over the shoulders which I liked. I also think that it would be nice in the collar which zips up, it would make it softer around the neck. As for the belt, well, I could not make head nor tail of it.. had to ask my son to activate it. No worries, as they say. February 3, 2013
Fits perfectly and love the colour. Big complaint, however: for a coat rated so high on warmth, the hood should stay up. There are no snaps to keep the hood on when a breeze comes by. It is far to "open" to the weather. There are draw strings, but they are not adequate to cinch the hood closed against the weather...Also, it says OK in -30, however it has been -20 and I need layers underneath to stay toasty. OMG I love this coat! I bought this coat to wear to and from work. I wanted something to keep me warm, but yet not be too bulky. I wore this coat and my new boots the coldest day of the year so far - I left the house and it was -27. I walked from the parking lot to my building which takes about 15 minutes and I was toasty warm when I got in! The coat fits great and covers my bottom, and that was really important. I can see why some people complain about the zipper, but my Helly Hansen did the same to me. My zipper was sticky at first, but now it works fine. I bought the orange and it is AWESOME. In a sea of black and grey on the coldest day of the year everyone looked at me with smiles. January 5, 2013
