Just what I wanted. After reading negative comments about fit, etc., I was concerned about ordering this coat. I received it yesterday and am very pleased. The belt does seem a tad high (I am 5'6" so it is slightly above my natural waist), but not a deal breaker. It fits perfectly over a fleece pullover. The sleeve length is just right. I like the extra touches like the inner knit cuffs on the sleeves, the fabric that can be turned down over the snaps if you take the hood off, and the zipper that opens from either end. I anticipate getting a lot of wear out of this coat. I live in TN (it does get cold here in the winter) and often travel to Chicago in the winter too. Thank you, Lands End, for your great clothes! so glad that I had this coat for working outside in winter! Other than wishing that the arctic grey had not been sold out I love this coat. I got it in mahogany brown. I live in Parry Sound Ontario and worked in some unheated places during a film shoot. Some were wearing Canada Goose coats and I was just as warm as they were at a MUCH lower price. Good quality. Thanks LE! February 21, 2013
Would definitely recommend - just as described and the zip is perfect. This is a great coat, well made for cold weather, very stylish and I love the grey. Runs big and allows for a jumper underneath. Would highly recommend. February 14, 2013
Trust customer reviews when they are critical I have often gone ahead and bought items despite critical reviews and not been disappointed because I'd been warned what the drawback would be. This time, the defects all add up: the belt is way to high and has to simply be gotten rid of, the zipper often just doesn't work (infuriating when you're in a rush to get to work) and the fit... just doesn't. I'm not wide shouldered nor that big beasted yet with anything underneath, this coat makes me feel like Frodo after he was tied up by Shelob. Except for the arms that are a tad too short. I handed it down to my daughter and it drapes on her awkardly so that we realized that it is not a size problem but a poorly cut coat. The arctic gray slightly shiny finish is nice and water proof and the coat is very warm but it just isn't right. I didn't send it back because I live abroad and the return postage isn't worth it. Got it on sale, it'll go live in the country house but it is a first major disappointment for me at LE! February 8, 2013
Nice coat, cost excellent due to the SALE What's NOT to like. I put the coat on and I was so warm I went outside. I also had on the diamond sewn vest Lands End sells. I'm a Lands End girl. Great quality. January 12, 2013
Returning this.. I bought the Parka version of this Luxe Coat a few weeks ago when my Mom was visiting and tried it on when it arrived.. Was very impressed with it.. The belt was way too long so I altered it with my trusty sewing machine for her.. Now that the weather is getting frigid I thought about buying one for myself.. Figured I'd try the coat version as it might be nice to have the extra length.. Couldn't believe the difference between the coat and the parka versions.. The coat is just shabby looking.. The first thing I didn't like is how the extra length flares away from the body.. Very noticeably.. Not a sliming look by any means.. Secondly, the belt was fixed about three inches above where I would have like it.. It made the coat look like a very bulky empire dress... I felt ridiculous in it.. Sending it straight back and hoping the Parka gets here before the frigid air next week.. January 9, 2013
Lousy buckle & belt placement. I have a normal waist, yet the one on this coat is several inches too high. The buckle is clearly not meant to be used because of the length of the belt, but I am still going to have to change it before wearing as it clinks with the slightest movement. I do like the length, & the large hood, which I assume is meant to be pulled over the top of the face in a snow storm. The coat fit is fine, but if planning to wear a bulky sweater, a larger size might be appropriate. The only problem with a larger size is that the size gods think that if you are larger around or wear layers, your arms have grown longer. Sigh. January 8, 2013
Love the coat but not the zipper This is such a neat coat, love the color, love the warmth, the belt is a liittle over the top but the zipper only works part of the time. I am debating if I should call and order another one or see if with use, the zipper will come around and work. I don't want to return it or have to get a different color but.... January 6, 2013
The two-way zipper was so difficult for me to use, that I simply returned the coat. Otherwise, it is a terrific coat: comfortable and fit well. See the summary above. The zipper was terrible. January 5, 2013
Perfect for Cold Winters I bought a large cause that was what my last coat was and this one was snug in the arms. I liked it though cause my last one would let in too much cold air. It is my every day coat but I wouldn't mind wearing it out for a date night to keep warm. The quality is amazing and I love how well it is put together. I don't quite get the belt so I will tie it for now. I have always loved Lands End and will definitley buy more from them. December 31, 2012
