Not for the Well-Endowed
This is a pretty dress - if you're not too big on top. I'm 5'2, 140#, 36DD. I bought this dress in white size 10 and tawny size 8. (I typically wear a 10 regular or 12 petite.) I'm keeping the tawny one. I like the length and fit and fabric (even though, yes, it needs ironing before or after each wear). BUT I must wear a cami-top or a modesty band to control the view of my cleavage - which takes away from the whole point of dressing to be cool in the summer. OR I can pin the top....After playing with it for a while, I've decided to add a hook-and-eye closure inside to keep the top from opening too much.
In addition - if you're well-endowed, you don't really need all these pleats to draw attention to your assets.
That said, if you get it on sale it's a nice summer dress, suitable for many occasions - including just being cool around the house.

Looks great, but a bit see-through!
I followed the advice of the other reviewers and ordered a size down. My measurements are 41-34-43 and the size 12 fits perfectly! I love the way this dress fits - the waist is at just the right place and it hits at my knees (I'm 5'11"). Also, the fabric is SUPER soft! The bodice does gape a little bit, but a safety pin or snap will fix this. The downside - the white one IS a bit see-through on the bottom. The pockets are pretty noticeable through the fabric and your underwear will be visible unless you wear something close to your skin tone. Also, it's 100% linen and WILL need ironing unless you want to look wrinkly. That said, I love the details on the bodice and at the hem. I'm trying to decide whether to keep this. Even on sale, it seems a bit expensive for something see-through that needs ironing...

Friendly to Curves
I'm 5'4", 130lbs, 36(32DD)x26x38. Broad shoulders, long torso, short legs. Size XS/S/4/6.
I bought this in a 2 Regular in White.
Sizing: This runs large, even for Lands' End. I wear a 4/6 in every brand, occasionally I need an 8, rarely a 2. But more and more frequently I'm needing to order the smallest size available here. I bought a 2, and it's still a bit loose. If a 0 were available in the Regular sizing, I would have exchanged it. True size 0s and 2s will be out of luck unless they go to the tailor. The waist rides a bit high on my long torso, but not significantly so. The hem hits me a little below the knee which is a fine length for me. The bodice is breast-friendly, though I have to tack down the opening.
Laying flat (and doubled) a size 2 Regular roughly measures 36.5" at the chest, 29" at the waist, 84" at the bottom hem, and 41" long. Sizes here usually go up/down an inch at the chest and waist.
Material and Construction: The outer is 100% linen, soft and nubby. The lining is 100% cotton, smooth and soft. Both the inner and outer have the handfeel I expect from these materials. Both layers are thin and lightweight. This dress is absolutely summer appropriate. I highly suggest the use of a slip or nude undergarments with the white, as (obviously) it is a bit transparent.
This is pieced together well, as most LE/C items are. No hanging threads, seams finished well, zipper set in great. No complaints.
Overall I do suggest it. I also suggest getting exact garment measurements from CS instead of following the size chart (I should have ordered a 6 according to the chart). The loss of a star is for the vanity sizing. This has become a source of great frustration for me, as I'm being sized out of certain things. This is inexcusable. I am small, but I am not tiny. There should be no 0s and 2s in my closet when I am a 4/6. While this frustration is felt towards multiple retailers, I feel LE to be one the worst offenders.

Stunning, Versatile Summer Dress - Please more styles with THIS LENGTH!
I am so happy I finally purchased this stunning linen dress in tawny on sale. After reading the reviews I was on the fence, because I recently had to return a few items because of sizing. I ordered a size 8, and it is almost perfect. And so glad I did! The hemline falls just below the knee on me, my desired skirt length - Thank You LE! The waistline is definitely higher than the natural waist, and I am on the tall side (5'8") but that is the style these days it seems. However this does not detract from this lovely, lovely design. The pleated, faux wrap-style bodice is beautiful, and with the proper bra, the fuller cut of the top looks great (I tried it on with a soft-cup, under-wire - it's important to have some structure). I am between a 36-38C bust, and can pin it or not. There are very slight gaps under the arms, but this is so minor and can be easily customized with darts; in my case I would prefer the fit a bit more loose for summertime weather. The side zipper and pockets are amazing quality touches. With the handkerchief-weight built-in slip, the skirt has a bit of structure, and no need to worry about the back light on a sunny day. The tawny color is much better than on the picture, warm and rich - perfect with gold jewelry if you want to dress up your look. A simple cardigan and silk scarf completes the silhouette on a cool night or in the a/c. And the price - on sale this dress is a gift!

Very light, lovely details
This dress will be great for our 100 degree summer days, as it's linen with a linen lining. The stitching on the bust and at the hem are very nice details that can't really be seen in the photographs; this dress is much less plain than it appears. I ordered down a size, and I'm 5'3 so I went with the petite length to get a better fit in the bust and at the leg. I like a low "v" on my dresses, but this dress takes it to another level! The "v" on this dress has to be pinned or stitched in place unless you want people to see absolutely everything. I love the dress though, so this was a non-issue for me. Yet again, the lingerie loops weren't big enough to accommodate my fairly standard width bra straps: a disappointment there.

Lovely light weight dress.
I was delighted to find a 100% linen dress with a 100% cotton lining in a below the knee length.
Thanks to previous reviewer's comments I ordered one size smaller than the size chart would have you believe is needed, and the dress fits me just fine.
My only disappointment is the weight of the fabrics.
The cotton lining is tissue paper thin. The dress linen is handkerchief thin.
The two layers together still make for a very light weight dress.
Instead of wearing this to work or church I'll be saving it for my next tropical vacation.

lovely summer dress that can go to work
I bought the dress in tawny to wear to work. It paired well with a black cardigan and a black-and-golden silk scarf, or alternatively with a squash-gold colored cardigan and a scarf that combined earth-tones with soft golds. Tacked down the front to avoid wardrobe malfunction. Just wish that linen could be blended with another fabric so that it doesn't look wrinkled at the end of the day.

My favorite summer dress
This dress is just lovely! I purchased the white and despite that it is linen (so it wrinkles), it just looks so put together in a casual and relaxed way. You can vary the look a great deal with using different belts. I've enjoyed wearing with summertime espradilles.

Beautiful Summer Dress - A Definite A+
I loved this dress from the moment I saw it introduced on your website and am extremely pleased with it!!! It is beautifully styled of a flowing, soft linen fabric with lovely, unformly tailored detailing. This dress is very well made -- the pleating on the bodice is uniform and the matching skirt lining is well-constructed and accurately fits beneath the skirt. This lovely dress is quite versatile, whether for an outdoor barbecue picnic or a night on the town. Its fit is a bit generous -- I ordered down a size based on previous reviewers and am happy I did so. Some folks may not like the wrap-style bodice, but a discreetly placed safety pin can fix any gapping issues (mine fit perfectly fine). I LOVE the tawny color too -- very even and consistent -- nicely done, LE!!!

need more colors!
This is a magnificent dress, and in 2 sizes smaller than my usual it fit very well - even the neck didn't gape!
I would buy it in a heartbeat if it were available in colors more practical than white and more flattering to me than tawny.
