The best winter coat Several years ago, I purchased a Stadium Squall parka and l absolutely adore it. I lost 40 pounds since last winter, so I decided to reward myself with a new Squall Parka (decided I could go with the shorter version since I am now in Tennessee winters instead of Wisconsin and Minnesota winters). The new version has some updates that I love, especially the cuffs inside the sleeve opening. If you are looking for a warm coat that looks good, this is definitely for you! This coat offers great quality for a fair price. It does run rather big - which I understand is for layering, but I still had to exchange the one I purchased for a size smaller. I will have no problem layering under it. I remember having to exchange my stadium squall when I bought that one, too, because it was too big. October 28, 2012
excellant Well it is everything you said, unfortunately not for the typical weather for South Australia but I wil keep it for when I go to my Daughters she lives in the Hills and it gets cold there. And I will have to get another one. Thankyou Landsend. April 27, 2013
A Warm Bundle! This is a beautiful Squall Parka. I love the green. It was very warm. I reordered the un-insulated Squall as our temps are rarely below freezing in the Northwest. It is perfect! I wore it snowshoeing several times and for walks outdoors when the temps were in the thirty's. Lots of compliments especially on the color. The quality is great. April 9, 2013
I love this coat! Warm even down in the 0 degree range. Comfortable, cozy, attractive, fits great! March 12, 2013
Some nice features but some big design flaws I am happy enough with this parka, but with a little thought and attention to detail it could have been so much better. The good - love the color (Blackberry), it is well-made and reasonably warm, though definitely not as warm as advertised! The not so good - the fit is a little skimpy across the shoulders and it is a good bit longer than shown in the photo. Elastic at the wrists is loose and the sleeves are a bit short. The bad, and downright annoying - what is with the skimpy pockets???? My previous Squall had 2 large outside pockets, 2 handwarmer pockets, and 2 large inside pockets. The outside pockets on this one are much smaller, the handwarmer pockets are zippered (irritating) and there is only 1 small zippered inside pocket. I use this parka for barn work and dog walking and there's simply not enough pocket space for all I need to carry. Very disappointing. I agree that the velcro is a bad idea and picks up every bit of dog and horse hair, hay, lint etc. And I miss the neckwarmer that was a feature on the old Squall, need to wear a scarf with this one. It's winter, I needed a new parka so I will keep this one, but there are some serious design flaws. February 21, 2013
Velcro is a real issue with this coat I bought this for my move to a place that has extremely cold weather in the north and is located on one of the Great Lakes. While it does keep you warm, sometimes it works too well--just wearing moderate clothing and walking only half a mile to work means I'm sweating by the time I walk in the building in spite of the cold. It is also very heavy, which makes it difficult to carry when not wearing it. I also have problems with the hood falling over my eyes when I need it. However, the real problem with this coat is all the VELCRO--it has ruined my mittens and many of my scarves because you are constantly snagging them on the coat. I've also picked many of my sweaters and dresses because the velrco on the sleeves and collar catches EVERYTHING. I would NOT buy it again. February 18, 2013
new design has significant flaws I bought this coat in navy about 5 years ago, and love it. Ordered one in black last week and was very disappointed. It has been redesigned, and not in a good way. The pockets are too small and too high - it feels awkward to put your hands in them. When you're not wearing the hood, it no longer lays flat against your back - it rubs against the back of your head. Also, the shoulders seem to have less room to move. I'm guessing the design changes were done to make the coat look more fitted and fashionable. I returned the coat - got my money refunded except for shipping, which seems unfair. I hope they bring the old style back - it was much better. February 9, 2013
This parka is beautiful! I am going to be spending my summer in a part of Alaska that rains alot. , I also needed somehing that would keep me warm on chilly days. This coat is perfect, I ordered the wrong size by accident, so I have the correct size on the way. The fleece lining is also perfect. The pockets are too low, but overall this coat is going to serve every purpose I got it for. I would definitely recommend this parka. I love it. January 26, 2013
Lovely color, warm, &boxy Blackberry color in this jacket is nice, a little darker than I prefer though. (I have purchased other clothing in blackberry and they have "better" hue.) I am petite 5'3", but purchased Regular XS since they did not carry PSX at the store. It is a little big, but looks much bigger than how actually is since it is VERY boxy. If I have purchased a petite, sleeves probably would have fit me better, but then the length would have been shorter not to my liking. It would have been better overall if the length was maybe 1 more inch longer and shape was less boxy. Normally I wouldn't have bought it, but it was a bargain, so couldn't pass up the deal. Can't have everything. It is WARM. January 17, 2013
Single handedly ruining my wardrobe I bought this coat as a 25F and below coat for the frosty Minnesota winters. As far as warmth and comfort, this coat is amazing. But whoever thought Velcro on a winter coat was a good idea? Everything sticks to it- my gloves, my scarves, my sweaters, etc...seriously all warm accessories I own are now filled with holes and fuzziness where there should be none. As soon as I find a seam ripper, those Velcro closures are gone. Would it have killed LE to use snaps? So one star for destroying everything I own. But four stars for the actual purpose of the coat, which is to keep me warm. Gloves beware! January 8, 2013
