Women's f(x)™ Down Coat 3.1 5 18 18
Darn zipper! I liked this coat until it came to getting out of. Awful zipper jams up at the bottom of the coat. Landsend should recall this product! Who wants to step in and out of a coat? May 30, 2013
Coat Molts! My daughter loves the coat on all accounts -- except that it leaves tiny feathers and pieces of down all over her clothes. She's been taking a lint roller to work with her every day, but it's a bit awkward for her to have to keep asking colleagues to clean the fluff off her back! Customer service recommended washing and drying it, but that didn't work, so we are returning it. Too bad, because she loves the color, fit, warmth and style. March 22, 2013
Love this coat but don't use the zipper! I love love love this coat - it's a great fit, it's warm, stylish, has great pockets, and the hood is perfect. This is a perfect winter coat for me. However, that zipper! ARGH. I was on vacation last week in Europe with my one perfect coat and one windy snowy day the zipper jammed and no matter what I tried, I couldn't unzip the coat at the very bottom. I had to step out of it. I eventually cut off the very bottom end of the zipper gizmo to undo it and now I just use the snaps. Lands End offered a refund but is sold out of my size and color. :( I've decided to keep the coat until I can find a replacement. March 22, 2013
overall impression out of the box is it's gorgeous i bought the white coat which is extremely impractical given i have 3 children 8 yrs and younger but this will be my "going out with friends" coat. i have a bit of a coat addiction! i read some of the complaints so as soon as i opened it i checked for uniform fluffiness to see if any of the areas were lacking in down and mine seems pretty good. i have experience with this with another coat from a different "L" store where after 2 coats of shedding feathers and huge areas missing down, i returned both coats. i think with down coats, you will get some that have that issue. i've also had the zipper issue with the longer coats from that other store. it's a huge complaint i have with all their longer coats. this coat seemed to be fine. i got it unzipped ok, tried it on and zipped it back up. it did catch on the fabric when unzipping it but it cleared easily. you need to take your time with these types of zippers which is a huge pain when you are in a hurry and in cold temperatures. i bought a XS and it fits true to size. i was able to try a short version on in the store so i knew the XS was the one to order. it fits snug so i don't think i could get a bulky sweater under it but i don't wear them so i wanted it snug. i can move easily in it and it's snug enough that air won't blow up the bottom. my coat doesn't smell at all but when you wash down coats they will get that "organic" smell until they dry again. first impression is that i'm very pleased with my purchase. once i've worn it if i have any zipper or leaking feather issues, i'll update here. i love the hand extensions which is the reason why i looked at the coat. a plus! Warm AND stylish First review ever... I was looking for a new coat this year and I am soooo glad I tried this one. Since I walk to work every day in Quebec City, Canada, the coat had to be warm and washable (you never know when you're going to be splashed by a car!). I also wanted a bright color in order to be as visible as possible in the late afternoon darkness. I've had this coat in Lime since Christmas and love it. We've had a very cold winter and the coat has kept me toasty. The hood stays up in the wind and the built-in handwarmer-cuffs are great when you want an extra layer under your mittens or need to use a smart-phone. The fitted style is more attractive than other similar coats and I've received tons of compliments. I loved it so much that I ordered another in the pink, in the same size (M). Strangely, the cuffs were much tighter and were so uncomfortable I sent the coat back. After thinking about it for a while, I waited for a 30% sale and ordered another, in the grey color, but in the Tall size instead of regular. The cuffs are fine and the sleeves are a bit longer, which is not a problem and I really like the extra few inches in length, which brings the coat over my knees (I'm just under 5'4”, with a short torso and longer legs). The coat does seem a bit thinner, so I'm thinking they maybe use the same amount of filling in the regular and tall. It seems just as warm though. No issues with the zipper, on either coat, although given the reviews, I always make sure to insert it fully. Like another review said, I'd have the zipper replaced if it broke given that I love the coat so much. I've worn these coats almost every day, unless it's really mild and expect to get a lot of wear out of them over the coming years. Thanks Lands' End! March 19, 2013
Fantastic cold weather coat, but problems with zipper. I live in Chicago, and am outside with my kids a lot, and this coat keeps me warm on the coldest days with harsh winds. I wear it every day - to take the kids to school, to the gym, shopping, even to go out at night. It is about as stylish as a black long down coat can be, with detailing in the fabric, seams lines that minimize and colored lining. (I wish it had fur lining on the hood, but not a big deal.) Regarding the size, it fits True to Size for 14-16 (which Lands End considers L and not XL.) I hesitated to buy this coat because people mentioned problems with the zipper (and I have had zipper issues with lands end backpacks), but it was the only coat I found that fit all my requirements. Now, the zipper won't unzip all the way, and stays zipped at the bottom, so I need to step in and out of the coat. Several people have tried to get it un-stuck, with no luck. Customer Service offered to send me a new one, but there are none left in my color/size combo. March 15, 2013
I love this coat. Except for the zipper. I used the lower zip one time, and the zipper teeth were never the same. So I am exchanging it, and just won't use that lower one. I LOVE the CLOVER FLOWER color! I receive compliments all the time about how it accents my skin tone. The fit is good, and it does keep me warm when the wind chill is in the negatives. Overall I am quite pleased with the coat, just not the zipper. February 23, 2013
Feminine fit and great warmth! I was lucky to find this coat at my local Sears for a great deal! I purchased the black with purple lining. The purple really makes this coat special - its not just a boring black down coat. I have worn it in temps in the teens and 20's and found it to be warm. It is true that the zipper can be tricky - sometimes it zips easily and sometimes it takes some finagling. The key is to make sure the zipper pieces are flush with each other and are at the end of the zipper when trying to zip and unzip. Honestly, if it ever failed like others have said, I would have a new zipper put in because I love this coat that much! If I have to complain about anything, I'd say the down smell is pretty strong. I have washed once which has helped some. It seems to be fading over time. There has been a little down loss at the seams, but it has been very minimal. As for sizing, I tend to fall between a small or medium in Land's end clothing. The medium fits me very comfortably without looking bulky. Great shaping for a feminine fit! Much cuter in person than in any of the catalog or online pictures! February 20, 2013
Zipper problem Like a few other customers, I have to return my coat because the zipper is permanently jammed. You may want to seriously consider a new zipper supplier. I too have to step out of my coat to get it off. I live in New England, so winter is longer here. Unless I purchase a replacement coat, I'll be "stepping out" until April February 14, 2013
PERMANENT ZIP JAM Do you really want to step in and out of a coat because the zipper is permanently jammed? Do you really want to read attached instructions on how to zip, and still feel like an idiot when they don't work? This is my second round of returning and re-buying this product. Enough headache, I'm glad Spring is coming. February 11, 2013
