The old fine gauge is better I was happy to hear of the improvements to this classic cardigan. I have several of the older ones and was looking forward to the deeper ribbing and longer body. Unfortunately, the cuffs were baggy and the new material does not look, feel or hang as nicely as the old. Sent the new ones back. May 27, 2013
Tired of clothes made in China I got this on sale. I should have known the quality would be less than desirable. I pulled the bag it came in out of the box and right on the front it said "Made in China." I pulled it out of the bag and the quality is poor, the feel is awful, it feels like those awful blankets that are used in skilled nursing facilities for the elderly....I am not even going to bother sending it back, I'm taking it direct to Goodwill. Land's End, time to up the quality or I won't be shopping at all in your store anymore! April 13, 2013
Colour not as pictured. I ordered the Chesterfield in this, a classic cardigan style. I was excited because it's hard to find that subtle mustardy yellow-green shade around. But when I opened the bag, disappointment! It is just a bright, buttercup yellow. Very nice, no doubt about it - I don't have issues with the quality of the fabric like other reviewers - but NOT the colour pictured. This is a real issue if you live in Canada - you can't check the colours any other way. Please try to be accurate, LE! This is the third item I've returned because the photos are different than the reality. March 12, 2013
Liked the old fabric better I liked the fit of the 100% cotton cardigans better. The texture now feels flimsy and the sweater seems to move around and I'm always straightening it. I do not mind the short sleeve crew but the cardigan just doesn't work for me. Too bad because I've been buying these for years in many colors. I'll be forced to try a competitors sweater. I'll never understand why companies change their best selling products. Don't try to fix something that is not broken! February 17, 2013
Disappointed I got a great deal on this sweater in a Land's End store. I tried it on without a shirt under it and loved it, however, once I got it home it was a different story. I tried to wear the sweater over a cotton-blend tank top and it just isn't working. Despite being a 10-12 P, the arms are long and baggy. The torso is not tight, but when I try to button the sweater, the buttons pull like it is too small! It then has some poof out on the bottom that accentuates my wider waste line. If this was the R size, I can't imagine how unflattering it would be! I will have to save this for wearing over more structured shirts. The material feels very tight, and not like a soft cotton. I was actually shocked to read that it was 76% cotton. On the plus side, I love the green/gold color and I will wear it with some of my office neutrals. February 17, 2013
Chesterfield color disappointing... I have many of these classic cardigans. I was looking for a Landsend sweater in a true fall gold color. This sweater seemed to be in that color tone online. Unfortunately, it was more of a muted green gold, and it made my complexion appear sallow. Please make an attempt to bring back the saturated, basic, seasonal colors for fall, winter, spring, and summer that you once offered. I prefer the true fall shades of deep rust, brick red etc., or rich jewel tones for winter, and bright summer shades, such as, deep pinks, strong greens etc. Tired of the springlike pastels and heathers! Bring back the old sweaters I orered two different colors in the this cardigan, and the colors were the only things I liked about them. The fabric felt funny at first, so I washed and dried the sweaters twice, and each time, the fabric felt worse. Basically, it is not nearly as soft and drapey as past years' sweaters - and I have over 20 of these sweaters in many colors and patterns. All of my previous sweaters have lasted beautifully through many, many washings - with minor fading over time. There is less cotton in the newer version of the sweater and the banding and ribbing are different. The banding at the bottom and cuffs is deeper and makes the sweater above the band puffier; not sleek and smooth as in past versions of the cotton cardigan. I returned both sweaters and will keep wearing my old ones. Please go back to more cotton - I'd rather pay a little more for higher quality. December 26, 2012
This sweater is such a disappointment, compared to the way it was before. I have three of these sweaters in the "old" fabric and design. I bought another to add to my collection, because they are so versatile. It was small and clingy; I gave it away. The only reason I gave it more than one star is that the recipient likes it very much. November 27, 2012
Good, but not great I agree with some of the reviews in that this sweater is not as nice as the cotton sweaters. I have two cotton ones, so will compare the two types for awhile. This may be my last one. November 18, 2012
Pretty nice cardigan...but not a LE standard, unfortunately. I bought this on sale and selected the Phipps Orange color. The color is a brilliant fiery orange and will look striking against any dark navy. The newer generation of this cardigan is 85% cotton, 13% nylon, and 3% spandex and the one I received verses the older more cotton rich version which everyone seemed to prefer over this one. The weight is good for cool to chilly weather and can be worn as a stand alone garment without assistance of a shell. The fit in the shoulders is good and comfortable, but the length could be slightly longer to mid-hip for better coverage instead of waist length so as not to look cut in half and make you appear shorter than you are. The sleeve length was good for me not to long or short. This is definitely a work or church sweater for appearance purposes. Also a piece to wear out for a nice dinner or movie as well. A good all around asset for chilly to colder weather. November 14, 2012
