Many down coats for women may offer a lot of warmth, but they also tend to be rather bulky. However, you won’t find that issue here. With this much coverage, you’d expect this coat to be warm. It’s incredibly warm, in fact, protecting you from temps as low as -40°. What will surprise you is how light it actually is. But that’s the beauty of our down (and of this coat!). The higher the fill power — in this case 600 fill power — the greater insulation, so you can use less of it, eliminating excess bulk. The result is greater comfort and freedom to move without being weighed down. Soft fleece inside the collar, cuffs and pockets provides an extra touch of cozy. Like all of our down coats for women, this style is slightly fitted, with princess seams for a more feminine shape. Finished with a drawcord waist, adjustable tabs on the cuffs, two zippered pockets and inside zip pocket. 100% polyester. Machine wash. Imported.

Very Warm. This jacket is very warm and fits well. The zippers on the pockets are sometimes hard to zip up as they catch on the inside fabric. I am very happy with this purchase. April 13, 2013
HUGE Dissapointment I bought this coat in red in size medium tall. The color is beautiful and the coat is warm in the body and arms. BUT, the collar is over 2 inches from my neck all around. I've been outside with this coat when the weather is in the teens and there is a strong wind, and when the temperature is in the teens and there is no wind to speak of. Either way, the cold air really stings and the wind makes it worse. I thought that being warm in the body would be enough and I could get used to being cold in the neck, but I couldn't take it for more than 10 minutes. I read one of the reviews where the solution to the problem of the open neck is a scarf. This doesn't do it for me. I tried it with the hood on and I took the hood off and wrapped a scarf around my neck. I looked like a mummy, I had to wrap the scarf so much. A face mask that extends down to the neck may work, but that is not very pretty. I've tried wearing this coat many times because I want to make it work somehow, but I ran out of solutions to the excessively open neck. I bought the coat in brown also and brown is made differently than red. The brown has a higher collar and it is less open, although not snug, but the nylon flap extending from the zipper when zipped all the way up overlays the fleece, so I feel nylon, not fleece under my chin. When I turn my head horizontally, the corner of the flap and edge keep rubbing against my neck. This is annoying. I asked for another brown tall but I had the last one and brown is being discontinued. The takeaway is that no 2 of these coats are made the same. Multiple vendors are making the coats to maintain inventory. One reviewer reported that the collar is snug. She didn't say what color coat is snug in the collar. The brown has less down in it than the red and has a lower waist than the red. It is smaller all over. I ordered 2 in red and kept the one with the most down, but didn't pay enough attention to the collar. The coat is so warm that on a day when I would be okay with an open neck, I would be too warm in the arms and body. This is frustrating because it is so hard to find a long coat with is warm enough in the body. Now I'm thinking that I should buy a long coat that is warm in the neck and wear a sweater under it on especially cold days. March 15, 2013
Wonderful! Love this coat... don't know how I survived the Canadian winter before. It is really warm and cosy (even for -30C it acts like a shield against the cold) but not heavy or bulky. Love the inner pocket, the fleece lining at the cuffs and collars. Love the colour, I got it in blackberry :) so much better than black, and I'm not daring enough to go for a bolder colour! Room for improvement: there's very little, but the collar is a bit tight when I want to wear a woollen scarf inside the coat. And fur edging on the hood would have been awesome! I'm 5'5, weigh 125lbs and I took a regular small. Fits great. Highly recommend to anyone living in a cold place. March 8, 2013
Cold around Neck I purchased this coat in medium tall even though 5' 6" so that it would be longer and the draw cord inside the coat would be lower than it is with a medium regular. The draw cord with the regular was inches above my waist and it was uncomfortable. The draw cord serves no purpose as it only tightens the lining, not the coat, and the coat is long enough and has sufficient closure at the bottom with snaps to keep cold air from getting up through the bottom. The fleece lining in the collar is soft but the collar is not high enough to make a seal around the chin except when I walk looking down at the ground. When my head is straight there are a couple of inches between the collar and my neck allowing cold air in. The collar should be higher and tighter. It is not snug around the neck either. What I do is grab the coat at the neck and pull up the coat about an inch so that the collar goes around my chin. This keeps my face warmer, too. Otherwise, it is necessary to wear a scarf. I was hoping to not have to wear a scarf but maybe that's asking too much. I don't care for hoods in general. This one doesn't solve the problem of openness at the neck and bottom of the face. Hopefully Landsend will make the collar higher next year, even an inch would be an improvement. The coat is comfortable and otherwise warm and it is generously sized so that there is no need to go up a size. It is not so spacious as to have to go down a size. It feels just right. So far I've only worn a tee shirt or long sleeve cotton shirt under it so I can't say at what temperature it would be necessary to wear a sweater under it. The only other problem that I have with the coat is that the fleece inside the cuff is not snug to the wrist. Since I bought a tall, the arms are long enough for me for the lack of snugness at the wrist to not be a problem. I would not wear this coat unless it is so cold that I need gloves/mittens, so that would also solve the problem of less than full snugness at the wrist. This coat is more for function than style and does not show off a small waist. It is not fitted at the waist. March 2, 2013
Great for really cold weather! I live in the far north in Maine and this coat has been wonderful for the sub zero and windy winters that we have. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 150 lbs. I ordered the medium tall and it is a perfect fit! No feathers have come out of this coat either. I tried the essential down parka first and the sleeves were too short and feathers were coming out everywhere. I will say that it is too warm to wear now that the temperatures are in the 30s, so if you live in a milder climate I wouldn't recommend this as your everyday wear coat. I love the fleece cuffs and collar lining. They are so soft! Great coat!!! February 24, 2013
Tried many coats before I chose this one This coat is almost all I would want in a down coat. Not too warm when weather is just "cold". With a wool sweater underneath, it's perfect for "very cold and windy" weather. Warmth without bulk. Hood is not too large and slips up over a hat very easily. The only wish list for this coat is that the stitching be on an angle, so I don't feel like the "Michelen Man" and that the pocket openings be a little larger. I wear it for warmth and comfort, not for style. I am about 5' 3", about 130# and ordered a medium petite, as the regular was too long in the arms and came down to mid-calf. February 23, 2013
Extremely Warm! This coat stood up well to the Siberian winter on a recent trip to Russia! The only parts of me that were cold were my cheeks and toes. I wanted the coat to be fitted though so I ordered a petit XS (I'm 5'3" and about 125 lbs) and it fits me well. February 17, 2013
Warm and Comfortable I am 5' 6" and 147 lbs and this coat fits me perfectly in size median regular. The fill is uniform so there are no cold spots. The coat is cozy around the neck and the hood is functional. At most a light sweater is needed underneath in frigid cold. Although not a problem with the coat, I look thick in the waist in this coat, as it does not conceal, and in fact, accentuates, a large waist. I need some illusions to look good in a coat such as diagonal or vertical stitching. Boxes aren't the most flattering design, but someone with a small waist would look fine. I've tried long down coats that are flattering but are not as warm or well made. February 16, 2013
Talk about warm This coat is perfect for Wyoming's cold wind. I use this coat daily to walk my dogs. It keeps me warm in the biting wind and cold temperatures. Love the soft pocket linings and the soft neck material. Makes me feel very snug, comfy and warm. Love this jacket!! February 16, 2013
Really like this coat, but I really like this coat. I purchase a petite medium and it fit perfectly. It looks nice on and it's really warm and comfortable. The only thing that I don' t like is that it sheds feathers. Every time I wear it, I see all these tiny feathers coming out of the stitching on outside of the coat. And when I remove my coat, there's all of these tiny feathers on my clothes. It's annoying. Obviously the feathers are coming out of the stitching on the inside of the coat also. I 've never experienced this before. I've worn many down coats and jackets over the years, even some from Landsend, and I have not had this problem. I don't known if all of the Chalet coats do this or, If I just received a defective one? February 12, 2013
