Jacket arms roll up my sleeves! The jacket is very well made, I love the dark blue color, it's the squall workmanship I've expected of LE before. But I slipped my arms on the sleeves and wow gosh, I could barely slip the arms below my elbows through the sleeves!!! The fit on the shoulders (I guess because of the tight arms) was also a little tight. And in petite XS, I'm really considerably thin, so I was horribly so disappointed. What happened to the sizing of this line? Is anyone checking the patterns at LE? Who is ever this thin to fit in these sleeves? Everything, the bodice, length, including the sale price, I found really great, so I was sad to have to return this piece...and look for another one, which will definitely be more expensive. Bit at least the sleeves won't be this uncomfortably tight! April 13, 2013
should be in the "not quite perfect" sale I have owned 3 Landsend squall jackets and ordered the Petite XS as that is what I have always worn. I found this jacket to fit really strange. The sleeves are way to skinny and tight from the elbow down to the wrist. I can only wear one lightweight layer underneath. The body is too wide for an XS, but I kept the coat, as I do have "skinny arms" and can live with them being a little tight and I used the drawstring inside to pull the body in a bit. My husband say's it looks fine. I really do think this jacket is flawed in design, but the price I paid for it on sale was really good and it's not worth paying for the return shipping. Good with qualifier I agree that the armholes & sleeves are small (or narrow), but bought the coat anyway knowing that info. My having narrow shoulders was a plus factor in making the purchase. This coat will be good and warm, but I will not be able to wear heavy sweaters or more than one layer under it. So if this is intended to be your only winter coat, don't buy it. But if you have another coat that will work with heavier winter clothing under it, go for it. March 3, 2013
I love this coat! I bought this parka for my future travels, with visits to colder climates in mind. The parka is well made and a perfect fit for me. I bought a Petite size S and it will allow me to wear a long sleeved shirt or light sweater underneath. As an Australian living in a sub-tropical climate in Queensland, I'm not sure how much I will wear it at home but it will be perfect for my visits to Canada and New Zealand. Thanks again for another great garment! May 16, 2012
Armholes way too tight I have worn squall parkas for years. This current design is way too tight in the armholes. When you drive in the coat you feel like you are being crunched under the arms. I returned the coat. May 13, 2012
fatally flawed design I am 5'8", 140#. Purchased sz medium on sale. Tried the coat on over short sleeved tee. The arms are quite close fitting from wrist to shoulder, and a bit binding on the upper arm- even bare armed. There is no way I could wear this over my typical winter wardrobe. The body of the coat is curiously roomy by contrast. The fabric and styling are attractive, but the sleeves are so ridiculously out of proportion it's hard to imagine how this design went into production. Thank goodness LE 's customer friendly policies make it easy to return items! May 3, 2012
Changed for the worse I've purchased versions of the this coat two times in the past and have loved it. My last one is at least 7 years old so I decided that it's time for new one. My daughter also discovered the warmth, comfort and features that the coat provides and began to borrow my coat frequently, so I ordered one for her also. We are so disappointed. The sleeves and the armholes on this coat are way too tight - an unusual problem for me as I have average arms. There is no room to layer even a thin sweater underneath it. If I thought that going up a size would add the 2 or 3 inches of material to the sleeve to allow for layering and arm movement, I would try that, but it appears that it's just the design. I am returning both of the coats. I hope that next years version of the classic squall restores the fit from the past while retaining the qualities of this coat. March 15, 2012
My Best Purchase Yet! . Although it had more insulation than I expected (I was looking for a spring/fall raincoat) it arrived just in time. With the heavy winds here recently (Southern Ontario, Canada) the windchill dropped all the way to -20C (-4F) and I was toasty warm. The hood was a godsend and didn't blow off in the 70 kph winds! I purchased the yellow because I am tired of all the dark dreary colours most manufacturers produce in coats. The bright yellow didn't disappoint.....such a cheery colour to be wearing in miserable weather. For me it fit big in the chest and shoulders and tight in the hips (no fault of the coat...just my big hips). March 6, 2012
Great parka. I spent 30+ minutes in a steady, light rain that was too windy for an umbrella. As promised the squall parka shed rain and kept me dry and warm. It has been durable in the barn and comfortable on horseback. It is true to size if a sweater or jacket is not worn. Order up a size if you always wear a sweater. February 24, 2012
Great winter jacket I love this jacket. I live in Chicago and care for 2 horses on my property. I'm outside many times a day in all weather and this jacket always keeps me warm and cozy. I expecially like the inside knit cuffs which keep the cold and wet away from my arms. I have an Erewhwon jacket that cost 3 times as much and I never wear it because it only has a velcro closure at the wrists and there is always a gap between the jacket and my gloves. It's wind and water proof which works perfectly in Chicago. I usually take an XS, but bought a S at the outlet store. January 26, 2012
