Description
For this dressy boot only fine calfskin leather will do.
- Rich calfskin leather upper
- Comfortable foam-padded footbed
- Inside pull straps
- Built-in shank for strength/support
- Stacked-look 2" rubber heel
- Leather-look rubber outsole
- Approximately 15 1/2-inch shaft
There are lots of leather choices out there, but for this boot we wanted leather that was dressy, soft and supple, and durable too. We selected calfskin leather because it's all that and more. Once you try this boot we think you'll agree only calfskin leather will do.

Nice leather, odd style
I really wanted to like these boots... I've been trying to find a simple mid-heeled high leather boot to wear for work. After reading a lot of the earlier reviews (which have disappeared), I decided to take a chance and ordered them in black. The main complaint earlier had been quality and narrow fit -- but my foot is narrow and they were on super sale so why not.
The leather was very nice, soft and had no marks or scuffs. The fit was true to size. The boots came up to just below the knee, and pulled on easily. The heel was perfect. But the style was unexpected. In a simple riding style boot I was expecting the vamp (the part that covers the top of your foot and slopes to your leg) to fit fairly close. These stuck out a good 3/4 of an inch out, leaving the silhouette looking more like a cowboy boot, and not a dress boot. The angle taken in the product photos does not show this. For some, this style might be fine, but it is not a boot that would work well with a suit and just looked odd. Sadly, I sent these back...
If your style is more casual or relaxed, these might work for you.

Impressed and disappointed
When I ordered this boot 4 weeks ago there were numerous reviews (where did they go?) that were very helpful as I agonized over the decision. I am a true-to-size 7.5 boot lover always looking for a quality boot to wear over jeans. I have narrow feet and slender calves (13.5 inches) making a pull on boot an easy choice (and zippers are hard for me to tolerate in cold weather). Since the cut of the boot can make it great for tights and horrible for jeans, I am always cautious. LE generally runs true to size or wide, never narrow and prior reviews described boot as "supple soft leather too bulky in the ankle". I took a chance, ordered 7.5, and they fit FABULOUS over jeans. Bulky is good, any cut of jeant can be tucked in. However, the first pair had a grease stain on one and a black streak down the back of the other; otherwise the color was beautiful and leather a good quality. I returned them to local store and was assured it was an anomoly. I ordered a second pair, no grease stain! But a lot of small scuffs and one black mark....they were delivered w/ no inside padding or packaging (unlike the 1st) and one of the leather pull tabs was ripped off and lying in the bottom of the bag. Oh well, I really want these boots. Three times the charm? but they are no longer on sale. I am a long time LE shopper for a family of 7, this is my ONLY bad experience. I'm hoping it's just bad luck.

Better than I hoped.
When I bought this, wasn't sure if what I saw as the visual color in the online picture would be close to what got shipped to me. . Was also worried because this doesn't have a zip. Got it, tried it and the boots fit me like a glove. The size is perfect, was easy to pull on with the pull up straps and equally easy to pull off. The leather upper is soft and the color perfect. Looking forward to wearing it in the Fall.
