Too short in sleeves and boxy
I was disappointed in this coat all round really. Sleeves are way too short, the body is miles too big and shapeless, and I felt that the outer waterproof layer looks cheap and prone to tearing. As I was hoping to take it bush-walking, I don't think it looks likely to survive the first encounter with a sharp branch. Bought two in different colors and they're both going back.

Pretty good, but I have a couple of suggestions
Just received my outrigger parka after many backorder delays. Now it's no longer the rainy season in California, so I can't attest to the jacket's ability to repel water or keep one warm. However, I do like the brim built in to the hood to help keep rain off one's face, the wonderfully deep inside chest pocket, and the servicable front flap pockets with velcro closure. I also appreciate the fleece lining and the length of the jacket, which covers my bottom. BUT, the additional handwarmer pockets are so shallow they are useless as handwarmers, and they are placed so low on the jacket that I would have to hitch up my jacket several inches to get my hands into them at all. They are also completely vertical, which makes for an awkward angle. Of course any item placed in these would immediately fall out. Please reconsider the depth and placement of these handwarmers. One other suggestion: why not a 2-way zipper? It would be nice to unzip from the bottom several inches to accomodate reaching into one's pants pockets or to allow one to sit more comfortably--without having to unzip completely as with the 1-way and be completely exposed to the elements in the front.

Best Jacket Spring,Fall and Summer at the beach.
I had purchased this jacket in black size L but when I received this at home the fit is off is more like XL.I had purchased a winter coat from lands end 2011.I expect the same fit.I was wrong.The fit was bad .I exchanged for size M.Im able to wear a light sweater and T shirt under.This jacket is a light weight more like spring ,fall,summer at the beach jacket.Perfect for the rain.I had wore it during a rain and I was dry and warm.I live in the east coast.The weather is been crazy but this jacket is perfect on a 30 degrees and 50 its still good but without a sweater under.Otherwhise is too warm.The lenght is perfect.Love the pockets on this coat.Its perfect to put keys.phone.wallet and extra pocket inside too.Just wish the Lands end make more coat like this.Just fix the fitting.I wouldnt wear this jacket during winter its too light.

It is light weight and warm!!
We were at an outdoor function at night in the desert where it was windy and cold. My son did not bring a coat so I loaned him mine. He fell in love with it!! It's hard to pease a 20 year old son but he loved this jacket!!!!

Perfect Jacket for West Coast
I had been looking for a jacket to wear that was not too warm but just took the California chill off. I could not be more happy with this jacket. I got it in black. It looks so nice with everything I wear with it, whether it be jeans of slacks. I am 5'9" tall and it fits my height perfectly. I would recommend this to my friends.
