A+++ Wonderful Pet Jacket! Order a size larger. I bought Squall Jackets for my 3 dogs to wear in bad weather and I have enjoyed using them even during Hurricane Sandy! Normally my dogs refuse to go outside during rain and snow storms and wait until they absolutely have to go. They soon figured out that they were staying dry and quickly went to do their business. The jackets are very well made and are easy to put on and take off. I do recommend ordering a size up!!! I followed the measurement guide's directions and originally ordered Medium for my 25lb. medium size Cockapoos but the jackets were way too skimpy. I exchanged them for Large and the jackets fit beautifully..... just like the pictures of the dogs on line! October 29, 2012
Love these! This is my third squall coat for my two boston terriers. Not because they wore out but because my male got so big! They are terrific in the cold and snow, I got the red this time with the contrast navy blue lining. Very smart looking. Can we have a pink for my girl? Don't hesitate - they simply do not wear out! Cheaper out version of old faithful My dogs had your Squall jackets and wore them for years. They endured the mud and elements , and laundered beautifully but when I ordered a new one, I couldn't believe how Much lighter weight and cheaply made it was. It looks like something you would expect to find at a second rate discount store. I've always expected quality from Lands End but over the last few years ( 5 maybe) everything has gotten cheap and your sizing is inconsistent. What's happened to you? I imagine you have cut corners but it's a shame. Your loyal customers expect and deserve better quality and are willing to pay a little more for it. May 9, 2013
They used to be wonderful This is the fourth squall jacket I have purchased for my 3 dogs-- the first 3 were fabulous, and lasted for years. Excellent quality. My dog lost his jacket this week and I ordered a new one promptly. What a huge difference from the jacket that I only purchased a few years ago for him. I compared an older one side by side with this one, and could not believe the difference in the weight and quality. I am so disappointed, Lands End, you have cheaped out! March 16, 2013
Great rain coat, but . . . We live in Washington state, so it rains a lot. This coat is perfect for the chilly wet days of fall and spring, but it needs to be thicker for winter. Also, the velcro at the neck had to be replaced after a year, it just lost it's oomph. I have a Westie and the medium fits in length and neck, the waist is a little big, but still works. I bought the red, but purple and turquoise colors would be great. March 10, 2013
still nice, but... The squall coat is still nice, but it's not as warm or as sturdy as the squall coats offered during the past few years. I bought this same squall coat twice before, in different years, for my dog. The lining was gray then and made of a warmer, thicker grade of fleece than this year's current blue lining. You can feel how light this year's lining is compared to the fleece used in the two previous models. And the ties that are used to fasten the coat around my dog's stomach seem a bit shorter. If I had had a choice, I would have chosen another of the previous years' squall coats compared to this year's. Someone who didn't know how the earlier designs felt might be satisfied with the appearance of this year's coat. But the added warmth and sturdiness of the original materials meant that I can still put them on my dog for knocking around in the park, where she likes to roll on the ground. The old ones held up, even when my dog scraped against cement and brick walls on our walks. And they were warm enough during the below-freezing weather. This new one doesn't feel strong enough to survive that kind of wear and tear. It feels too light for the coldest weather. March 7, 2013
Great dog coat for climates with milder winters My dog LOVES his coat, and never wants me to take it off! I read the reviews and bought the XL for my 70 lb lab mix, and it fits perfectly. I wanted something warm that he could wear in the rain, but he wears this coat all the time now. I was concerned that the velcro might scratch him, but the straps that the velcro attaches to are quite generous, and I have had no problems at all. I live in the country, and chose the India Yellow color because I thought it could be seen well, by hunters and other folks, since I did not want Happy to be mistaken for a coyote. It is a fabulous and bright color, and I can spot Happy anywhere. The reflective trim is also great. A stranger who drove to my house even remarked upon it, after driving to my home around dusk. I live in NC, and we have fairly mild winters, the daytime temps are generally in the 40's and 50's, and this jacket is fine for my purpose. I do think that the fleece lining is thin though, and am thinking about how I can pad another one of these coats myself, to make it warmer for the colder days, and may put some polartec insulation between the shell and the fleece. I also want to say that when the coat arrived, I said - Happy, this is for you!, and he stood still while I put it on. I could not believe it. And he must be very comfortable in it, because he really does not like for me to take it off. Also, he looks very sharp and handsome, a black dog in his bright yellow coat. I think he knows he looks good in it. February 25, 2013
Not a winter coat. I have purchased three of these coats over the years. The first two were several years ago and I use them all winter. Good in snow and rain because they are water repellant. So when my son got a dog last November I ordered one for him too. The new one is considerably lighter weight. Still good for rain, but not for warmth. Disappointed. February 17, 2013
Fabulous jacket! Highly recommended. I ordered the red one monogrammed for our 18 lb Maltipoo and it is wonderful. She loves her jacket and gets so excited when I pull it out. It keeps her warm and dry. I do agree with another reviewer to order one size up, however. Sophie gets lots of compliments on her snazzy jacket and of course, I tell them Land's End! We've had this jacket for over two years now and it looks as good as the day we bought it. February 8, 2013
Don't buy this if you are looking for a warm coat We live in Chicago. I needed a new coat to keep my baby warm on the cold winter walks. This coat is not nearly as warm as the cheapo coat I'm trying to replace. The lining on the squall is quite thin. I was concerned with it before I even took her out the first time. When my dog comes in after wearing the coat that needs to be replaced her back is warm. I know that she is being kept warm. When I put on this squall coat and we go out - when we come in her back is cold. I just don't think it is keeping her any where near as warm as the other coat - which has a polartec type fleece lining. I think the lining on this squall is some thin and cheap polester that just isn't thick enough for the cold winters in Chicago. To be fair, I do think that in the spring / autumn and in the rain this coat will come in handy and hence am not returning it - but be clear - I'm going to use it for keeping off the wind and rain - NOT for winter warmth. Just wish lands end had a WARM winter coat for my dog.... January 30, 2013
