A big downgrade from 3 years ago!
I used to love these cotton twill no-wash dress pants but I was very disappointing when I tried to order more recently. I have the same problem that several others have complained about. The "tall" or "long rise" have significantly less crotch room than they used to! Slightly less of a problem but still annoying was that the pockets were about 25% less deep than previously. They were also much less deep than comparably priced dress pants from several stores in our local mall.
I had ordered three pairs of shorts at the same time. They had the same problems. What's with the skimping on material? Lands End is not the quality product it used to be and I'm very sad. I've been a customer for over 20 years but I had to send everything back and wont be buying more in the near future. I'd be happy to pay a little more for decently cut clothes.

Good quality but short on roominess in the rise.
I ordered regular rise versus long rise because I don't usually need long rise, and it was an extra $10. Listed as "Dress" twills and already being one of the higher priced versions of the twill trousers I expected normal room in the seat. I was surprised to find I had to wear them below my waist in order to be comfortable. If I buy more of these, they will HAVE to be long rise.

Still not close to what they once were
I bought quite a few pairs of these pants between about 2004 and 2011, and I considered them to be about as perfect a product as you are likely to see at any price. I was getting ready to make a large purchase of additional pairs when I read the scathing reviews of the “new improved” version. I thus dropped the purchase plans. I recently read Lands' End’s announcement that they were responding to customer dissatisfaction and had restored things to these pants to their former quality and styling. I thus bought a test pair, and found that, unfortunately, this is not the case.
The new pair fits like the old ones, so to this extent the damage has been undone. However, the fabric used in the current version is markedly inferior to that used in the pants I bought in the past. The old fabric had a nice sheen, real heft, and it held its crease very well. It also needed only a touch up with a warm iron to make the pants look virtually new. That fabric justified classifying the pants as “dress” chinos. The fabric on the new version is dull in finish, and the crease is coming undone after one washing. You really have to iron them to make them look even remotely close to what would qualify as "dress" chinos. Because of the different fabrics used, my old pants look better after many washings than these pants look brand new.
I won’t be buying any more of these and am currently shopping around for a new source for chino pants. I’m still hoping, however, that Lands End will realize that you can’t improve upon perfection and will return their dress chinos to their former glory.

poor job of cuffing
I am very disappointed in the job that was done for the cuffing of these trousers and will probably return them at my first opportunity. The trousers are great ,the cuffs are wrong.

Please recall the "black" color!
I agree with the previous reviewer that the "black' color is not true black. It is a very dark navy blue. It's easy to see when you compare the pants color to the inside black liner, and my black socks and shoes. Not black. These will be returned.
I've been a big fan of the no-iron twills for a long time. Just not the black color. I will need to look elsewhere.

Color WRONG
I loved each pair of pants I received--one each of forest green, khaki, and blue. However, the black pair sent to me was NOT black. I ordered a replacement which was the same NON-black color. It was actually a dark blue. This was confirmed by ALL my family members and the sales person at the Sear's Land's End Dept. I would love a pair of BLACK twills but you have stopped making them or someone is "color blind" there.

These are improved over the previous version.
Fit was good, nice sheen and finish.

Very disappointing.
I was annoyed when Lands' End discontinued the long rise/tall trousers early last year. While I found another source for dress pants, I missed (1) the choice of colors that LE had, (2) the chance to get an exact inseam, and (3) cuffs if I wanted them. When I saw that they were available again, I was please. I was prepared for the new long rise twills to be a bit different. But these are *very* different--they are much tighter in the seat, hip, and crotch.
If you like the regular twills and need a very little bit more room, then these might be for you. But if you liked the old long rise twills and are hoping to replace them, you may be very disappointed.

Not as good as they used to be
Not nearly as good as the previous batch. After waiting many months for the long rise no-iron dress twill trousers to be available, it seems that they are now made somewhere else and they do not feel like long rise at all.
Material is also coarser than it was previously.

TALL IS NO LONGER TALL.
The "new tall" is new all right -- it is too tight/short in the crouch. Disappointing since we were trying to replace a few pairs of my husband's Lands End pants in 34 Long.
Time to return. Time to find a new store.
