Men's Pattern Wool Topcoat
Looking good on the way to the office or a night at the opera!
Even if he he loved or hated this coat, my husband would never write a review so I'll give my take: it's perfect for him. He's suffered through Midwest winters trying to avoid wearing a topcoat but finally came around and bought this. It's stylish and nicely tailored with secure buttons and pockets that seem like they'll hold up to having gloves jammed in them constantly. The coat fits true to size and easily accommodates a suit jacket underneath without looking bulky. He thought the wool might be scratchy at the neck but it's very soft so no complaints. The herringbone pattern is quite handsome and ideal for camouflaging dirt, coffee, whatever. I didn't even know about the water-repellent finish, but that's a real plus that my own wool coats don't have.

Nice quality, runs large
Nice quality coat, ordered in the size my husband normally wears but it it was too large and had to return it.

The coat is perfect for me, but was tight in the shoulders, so I have returned it for a larger size as I want to be able to wear it over a sweater or suit jacket.

Beware Size Mismarked ???
I ordered large size since I wear 42 reg. When this coat arrived it was TOO small to wear over a shirt. This coat is supposed to be sized to wear over a suit jacket. Needless to say I was very dissapointed with the coat and Lands End. I have been a customer for 40 years. I returned the coat to the local Sears store. While there I noticed they had this coat in stock and thought I would try a extra large size since the large was so small. I got lost in the extra large. I was amazed by the difference in size between the coat I received and the coat in Sears so I decided to try on a large and to my amazement it fit perfect. I then tried a medium. The medium fit the same as the large I had ordered. Sears did an exchange. The only explaination must mean the large I received was actually medium even though it was labeled large. If you received a coat that is too small for your normal size it may also be be mis-labeled. I now would recommend this top coat both in size and quality.

I have been a loyal Lands End customer for more than a decade, and I have witnessed a continual decline in quality over the last few years. With costs rising and customers unable to pay higher prices, I understand LE's predicament, but this situation has never been as evident to me as when I tried on the new wool topcoat yesterday. It looks great in the catalog, but in person, the material is lackluster, inspiring major criticism from my daughters. They said it was ugly, and they were right. It's just a cheap looking coat. Additionally, I ordered the medium, which is the recommended size for my chest (40"), and the fit was unbelievably off. The sleeves are about 3" too long, and Santa would have ample room for his belly in this one. I am not a small man, but I was swimming in this jacket.
