Portuguese Weavers are renowned as the world’s best at flannel, and a great part of their know-how is in the weaving. So we thought we’d see what they could accomplish if they wove fabric for dress shirts — and skipped the brushing that defines flannel. These shirts are the result.

The weavers won’t reveal exactly how they crafted this silky mid-weight twill, but we know they started with superior yarns. They’re substantial, 30s yarns, ringspun from combed cotton for optimum strength and softness. Lots of shirt fabrics do that, of course, but we haven’t come across one that feels as soft as this without some kind of extra softening finish. Without brushing, the fabric still has clear twill ridges and crisply defined colors. And we give the shirt our full suite of dress-shirt tailoring, including the English mitered back yoke that adds comfortable “give” across the shoulders. 100% combed cotton. Machine wash. Imported..

Sleeves shrunk I should have read the reviews before making the purchase. After one trip through the washing machine the sleeves shrunk by at least 1" May 18, 2013

Great shirt, but shrunk! On the 2nd or 3rd washing, this short lost 1 1/2" in the sleeve length and lost significantly in overall fit. I own nearly 2 dozen LE shirts and am consistently pleased with the size standards. All shirts get cleaned/dried with the same settings. This one is a big disappointment as the fabric is very soft and comfortable and the marine is a nice pattern. April 6, 2013

Land's End has changed their sizing I buy the same size shirt I always buy - the same size that I currently wear and it's cut smaller now. This also happened with the Land's End golf shirts I buy. Very frustrating! January 5, 2013

Substantial fabric, warm, cozy. I am happy I found this shirt. The fabric is substantial and comfortable, and looks nice enough for work. And they offer it in a Tall version, wihch is getting harder to find. December 8, 2012

Not A Dress Shirt, LE, but Superb Nonetheless! The shirt is wonderful - great colors (I purchased the blue and the green patterned shirts), soft, and exact sizing. It is not, however, a dress shirt. Certainly dressier then flannels and corduroys, et al., but this shirt will not pair well with a tie or suit. Then again, when so many men think putting on a clean sweatshirt or a new t-shirt is "dressing up", perhaps I can understand why LE refers to this as a dress shirt... November 25, 2012

A Well-Made, Versatile Shirt I really like this soft twill material. It has the typical well-made Lands' End quality and I always appreciate being able to order in neck/sleeve size. The twill material has a more casual look and isn't quite as dressy as a pinpoint oxford but still looks great with a tie and blazer or with jeans and khakis. A very versatile shirt. Skimpy fabric, oversized. I was expecting an autumn weight shirt somewhere between an oxford cloth and a flannel shirt. This shirt, though nicely constructed and beautifully colored, is made of a flimsy fabric, akin to a broadcloth dress shirt. Not suitable for wear in Minnesota after September. The sizing was at least a size too large, in neck and sleeve, even after washing. I can't imagine the fabric would be durable. Back to Lands End it went. October 27, 2012
