Description

Softness from the Portuguese masters.

  • Exceptionally silky twill
  • Classic dress-shirt tailoring
  • Perfect fit: your exact neck and sleeve sizes
  • Tailored Fit: trim, for a cleaner look

Portuguese Weavers are renowned as the world’s best at flannel, and a great part of their know-how is in the weaving. So we thought we’d see what they could accomplish if they wove fabric for dress shirts — and skipped the brushing that defines flannel. These shirts are the result.

The weavers won’t reveal exactly how they crafted this silky mid-weight twill, but we know they started with superior yarns. They’re substantial, 30s yarns, ringspun from combed cotton for optimum strength and softness. Lots of shirt fabrics do that, of course, but we haven’t come across one that feels as soft as this without some kind of extra softening finish. Without brushing, the fabric still has clear twill ridges and crisply defined colors. And we give the shirt our full suite of dress-shirt tailoring, including the English mitered back yoke that adds comfortable “give” across the shoulders. 100% combed cotton. Machine wash. Imported..

Men's Pattern Tailored Fit Portuguese Twill Buttondown Dress Shirt 3.9 5 15 15
nice warm shirt I ordered this in spring (still cool here in Toronto area this time of year). Portuguese twill is a warm fabric. The colour and print is beautiful and crisp. It makes a flannel-like shirt dressier than it would otherwise be. May 12, 2013
Nice pattern for casual wear It's great to be able to buy a tailored fit casual shirt - regular fits it too generous for my husband. He bought the "Biscuit" plaid, and it looks nice with both casual pants for workdays and with jeans for weekends. May 11, 2013
nice feeling fabric wears well, soft and firm fabric, finely tailored fit April 13, 2013
as expected: excellent good fit, nice material, the usual excellent workmanship. April 13, 2013
Two button sleeves Reviewer stated that shirts he buys usually have two buttons on the sleeve. The two buttons are for shirts having sleeve lengths 32/33, 34/35 etc. These shirts can be ordered with exact sleeve lengths 32, 33, 34, 35 etc one of the main reasons I wear Land's End January 19, 2013
Soft, versatile, and it fits! I'm 6'2"/155 and the medium tall fits almost just right. There's still some billowing excess material around a 38" chest and 31" waist but it's tolerable enough for business casual, at least compared to anything I've seen shy of visiting a tailor. Sleeve length is dead on. The fabric is thick and luxurious - I wonder where to get sheets made of this stuff. January 18, 2013
fit well out of the package but shrunk in width and length-sleeves and body. will have to return. would appreciate return package and postage fit well out of the package but shrunk in width and length-sleeves and body. will have to return. would appreciate return package and postage January 13, 2013
Classy Checkered Shirt Pleased with fit, color, and looks before first wash..Don't know if it will wrinkle and ineed much roning. Previous experience with Lands Ends clothing has been good. December 22, 2012
Poor collar material I wasn't expecting wrinkle free but the the collars go crazy in the washer and it was a chore to get them ironed flat. They need to change the material they use to stiffen them. Seems like basic stuff, how do you mess that up? Otherwise I like the shirts but won't order again until I know they fix this. December 9, 2012
Good shirt, but needs 2 BUTTONS on the cuff. Soft hand, very comfortable and heavy duty fabric, nice enough to wear to work in an office setting. Impossible to wear a watch with it though, as there is only one button on the cuff and it is too tight to wear a watch underneath. And I don't have big thick wrists or anything, I'm tall and lean and wear a 15.5 X 35. Every dress shirt I've ever bought in the past has 2 buttons on the cuff. Land's End shirts used to. Why only one on all the dress shirts now? Does it really save that much money to leave off a button? Seriously. I'd buy a bunch more of these but every time I wear one I'm annoyed that they left off the second button. November 11, 2012
