Nice shoe, a bit stiff
These are handsome shoes and appear to be well made. I got the darker color even though I feared they'd be too close to black for my taste. But they're fine, a nice dark brown. The shoes are a bit stiff when new, as I find all Lands End leather shoes to be; so they may need a little breaking in. After a few days wear however they are fine. They seem pretty true to size but if you have a wider foot you would probably want to go up a 1/2 size or so. I deducted a point because of the initial stiffness and breaking in period. Otherwise they'd be a 5.

A Great Step Up From the Regular Deck Shoe
I have been buying deck shoes from Lands' End for years; they've been relatively inexpensive and definitely stood up to the beating that I gave them. For the price, I considered them "disposable" and they have always been my all-summer/all-the-time shoes. The only problem with that particular style is that the soles are relatively thin and don't give a lot of support when walking or standing for long periods (even though the Lands' End version has been more comfortable than the other comparable brands out there).
This time I decided I wanted something a little sturdier, nicer - something for those times when I didn't want the scuffed-up look - so I decided to order these chukkas. I was a little hesitant, thinking that they would be "clunky" or too heavy to wear sockless with shorts. They just arrived today and I have already ordered a second pair! They are REALLY comfortable, definitely more sturdy than the other deck shoes (read: I can punish the heck out of these and they'll take it) and they look great - just as good with a pair of khakis or jeans as with shorts and a t-shirt. Another thing I like about these is that the sole is thicker and gives an almost "walking on air" sensation; much more support than the other style. I can definitely imagine walking all over town in these without my feet suffering. Another great thing is that right now, at least, they're half the price of the camp mocs! What's not to like!?
A word of caution on sizing.... these do feel a bit snug out of the box... so I'm going to give it a couple of days before making my final decision about whether the size listed is accurate.
