Great effort at updating a classic
The fit did not work for me, unfortunately, but I love the jacket. I am athletic 16x34 - in between a M and L size. The Large fits well in the shoulders, but just has too much material in the body for me. The M, which I really tried to make work, fits great in the body but is just too tight in shoulders and the sleeves pull up when I reach. So I had to return this one. I wonder if the sleeves could be put together in a way that allows for more freedom of movement. This is a feature I've seen advertised on some of the more technical brands. Or perhaps LE could bring out an athletic cut version, similar to the trim fitting dress shirt line.
Otherwise the quality, styling, technical features, and value of this jacket are absolutely outstanding and make it a perfect all-weather jacket for conditions from cool to very cold and sport to casual to work attire.

Nice coat
I ordered this coat to replace the older model. I returned it because the sleeves were to long and all the Velcro on the front closure. My old coat has the flap under the zipper with no Velcro. BTW the older coat is 5 yrs. old or older and is still waterproof ! !

Excellent choice!
A few comments to add to those already posted: Yes, the hood is indeed insulated and not just a shell. As noted in the main description: "chinguard to prevent nips". If the wind is biting, I throw the hood over my head, zip up the front all the way to my chin/mouth, and I'm comfortably insulated with only my eyes and nose exposed. Adding to the wind break effect are the velcro flap over the zipper and the "interior rib-knit cuffs" at the ends of the arms. I didn't understand that phrase before I bought the jacket, but it's like they sewed an extra 4-5" of sweatshirt arm inside the jacket sleeves near the end so that you have a good tight fit around the wrists. I find I have to hold onto the ends of my sleeves when putting the jacket on because otherwise my shirt sleeves may pull up, but once I do that I have a very tight fit to keep the cold wind out. Excellent design in my opinion.

Great jackets/coats for boys
I keep buying Lands End jackets for my boys because the jackets are warm, fit well, the fabric is durable, they are machine washable and the price is reasonable. Bright colors for younger boys are easy to see.

Excellent fit and finish
Squall jacket with hood is well worth the price paid. I wore it the first time in 25- 30 degree F and was very comfortable with a shirt and sweatshirt layered underneath the jacket.
I haven't been out in wet weather with the jacket yet.
All in all I'm satisfied.

nice looking
Ordered this for hubby to wear dress casual...eating out, shopping, etc. He likes it - says it fits well and is very comfortable. Usually takes hood off but it will come in handy.

This jacket is just right
I ordered two jackets, one for each son, a large tall and an extra large tall. The jackets fit great, and I was able to pick a color they each liked. The jacket is light weight enough to wear anywhere, yet warm enough for COLD weather. And it keeps them dry, snow tested.

Perfect fit
I purchased this jacket as a replacement squall jacket for my college-aged son. This jacket has the traditional sewn in zipper instead of the welded zipper on his old jacket. The welded zipper broke; I prefer the traditional zipper. The coat has the appropriate temperature rating for keeping him warm on a Michigan campus! He loves the solid Navy color. My son is happy with this jacket.

The jacket fits comfortably and should keep me warm on cold days
The fit is such that I can wear it comfortably with or without a woolen sweater. The quality of finish is good and the colours are excellent. It is exactly what I wanted.

Good fit, like the colors.
I like the two inside pockets with larger openings on my old Squall jacket better than the single inside pocket on this new jacket. I also like the way that the hood rolls up into the collar better than the detachable hood on the new jacket. If the new jacket had a second, larger inside pocket, the hood could be stored there. But would have preferred that the hood go into the collar.
