Outstanding Coat I work in Manhattan and the wind in winter on 10th avenue makes it feel more like Anchorage than NYC. I bought this coat because of the reviews and am very happy. For fits purposes, I'm 6'3, about 200 lbs, considered lanky and have worn anything from L to XL with a Tall size thrown in once and awhile. In this case I bought a Large (not tall) and it fits perfectly. The coat falls to about 5 inches above the knee and the sleeves fall about an inch lower than the wristbone. I can easily wear a sweater underneath if necessary and there is real ease of movement with this coat. Shoulders have plenty of room. I have yet to experience being cold in this coat and the wind chill is in the lower 20's so far this year. I am actually looking forward to it getting colder. The dark gray is a great color. The only negative is the zipper. It takes a little work and Lands End must know that since they actually attached directions on how to work the zipper, which I thought was funny. January 16, 2013
Great Coat For Cold Weather I purchased this coat for my husband. He wanted a longer coat that wasn't too casual and he could wear with a suit. Oh yes, it had to stand up to Chicago (lake effect) winters. This coat is lightweight but very warm for the coldest and windiest weather that winter can throw at you. Unlike other down coats it isn't bulky or puffy and the feathers stay in the coat instead of all over your clothes. It has all of the features a guy would want or need in a coat. There are lots of pockets, inside and outside, and it is longer for warmth but comfortable when driving or sitting. You won't be disappointed with this purchase. January 1, 2013
Keeps my bum and legs warm... I ordered this coat for my first winter in Toronto. So far, so good. It is longer than any coat I've owned in my life, and thank goodness it is. It keeps my bum and legs warm for walks to and fro. The zipper and the buttons on the front are easy to access/use. It has more pockets than I really know what to do with, but better than the alternative of having too much stuff and not enough pockets. The hood is great - and warm. Even on the coldest days so far, I usually just wear a t-shirt underneath the coat because it is that warm. One cool feature that I didn't realize was the two side, lower zippers. Those, along with the zipper that can unzip from the bottom, makes the coat easy to keep on while driving, which is nice. The only thing is that it fits pretty big. I originally ordered a large because it said it correlated to a 42 - but it was much too big. I'm wearing a medium now and it is perfect. Thanks Lands End! December 22, 2012
great except it needs a draw-string waist cord so that you can tighten the fit. I bought this jacket for winter in Chicago and it would have worked great if it had the waist cord. Without it the jacket was a bit too spacious in the waist area and let air in from underneath. Otherwise I liked everything about this coat. December 9, 2012
This is one super coat; warm, good looking, well made with convenient pockets. At last a coat that is really warm, waterproof, light, easily stowed and good looking. I am 200 lbs and six feet tall and the large size fitted me perfectly. There is plenty of arm movement , it slips on over a jacket, the front flap hides the zipper and the large pockets are perfectly located. I'm currently using it in below freezing damp weather . It keeps me properly warm and dry. The hood works perfectly, keeps my head warm too and doesn't work loose on windy days.. The stitching appears strong and durable and the whole coat is well made and thought out. The three quarter length makes it a proper coat that keeps thighs warm and dry too. It is good value with proper down lining that's not too bulky. It became a total bargain at a Christmas sale with 40% off and free postage. This is one terrific coat. December 9, 2012
Warm and comfy If only i could get my husband to put aside his 25+ year-old, long coat and wear this new one! Fits him well, and keeps him very warm. Good pockets, but they could be a tad roomier, especially the patch pocket on the inside (to hold a paper or magazine, say). Two-way zipper is a big plus as he can open the coat if he's too warm. If it were a bit longer it would keep his legs warm, too, but all in all looks like a winner. December 9, 2012
Fits great I bought the XL Tall in tan. As soon as I put it on I knew it was going to fit my 37 1/2" arms. Comfortable and not real bulky. The zipper comes up to my chin - no gaps for wind. It has not been very cold here in NJ as yet so I can't say but the specs indicate I will be comfortable. December 6, 2012
bought for my son in law....he felt it was too big (no cinch waist) and returned it for another lands end coat he loves. The quality is excellent...always is...but the thing I love most of all about Lands End are the customer service people!!!!!! I cannot say enough positive things about them. Just on this transaction they were extemely helpful....I am not computer savy and though I ordered the coat on line, I was not at all sure how to handle the return as I wanted to exchange for another coat that was on sale. The coat was on sale only untilt he next day and you would not have received the exchange by then. The customer service person told me to make it a straight return and purchase the next coat as a separate transaction. I not only got the sales price but there was another sale that day that gave me additional off...somethingn I wouldnt' have known without this persons help!!!! then after I hung up I remembered that our credit card company had just replaced our credit card with a new one when the old one was compromised...the one I had purchased coat number one with. I called customer service again, and the next weson noted the accoutn and assured me all would be fine. December 4, 2012
Perfect winter coat. This coat has everything you could want in a winter coat. Compartmentalize down quilted lining to keep the down in place, Internal storm cuffs, two way zipper, no exterior chest pockets keep the appearance clean as does the lay-flat hand warmer/cargo pockets, detachable hood and the "slate black" color choice instead of a jet black which is too formal for general wear. This is a winner. November 28, 2012
He is convinced I ordered this coat for my husband who wasn't sure about buying online. He is very happy with his new coat: quality, color, warmth, every thing is fine. I like the style. So yes I recommend this coat. November 24, 2012
