These shorts are awesome
I love these shorts. I have 3 pairs, about to buy a 4th, and would buy more if they had more colors. I own the navy, brick red, and khaki. They are made with a high quality soft cotton that is extremely comfortable and breathable. With the inseam length they stop about 1.5 inches about the center of my knee and the waist is true to size, I wear a 32 in everything else. My only complain is that there aren't enough colors available. I would love to see a maroon, black, brown, and a red. I'm a 19 year old freshman in college and the 9 in shorts are very trendy on campus. LE does it best!

Excellent fit and quality
These shorts are pretty great. First off, the cotton is a thick, dense weave, so it feels far more substantial than the typical shorts you'd find at the mall; you can tell this these will last a long time. Second, the rise is relatively high, which is more comfortable than the low-rise shorts that everyone else sells. I got the 32 inch pants and they fit true to size; the nine-inch drop ends right before the top of the knees, right where they should be. My two recommendations to Lands End is to sell these in smaller sizes and to offer more colors. I'm actually closer to waist 31 than 32, so if these were offered in smaller sizes I'd definitely buy more. (So would other people I imagine.) I'd also buy several more pairs if these shorts came in a broader palette of colors like electric blue, maroon, or bright yellow. Great job LE!
