Did you know, Madras fabric is an adaptation of Scottish tartans? Local Indian weavers saw the tartans worn by Scottish regiments there during the 19th century. Liking the colorful patterns, they reinvented them — appropriately, in very lightweight cotton and vibrant yet less saturated colors suited to the blistering climate. True to original Madras, our fabric is supremely breezy. We make it to last, too, from strong, ringspun single-ply yarns. So you’ll find relief from heat for many summers to come. 100% cotton.
