We partnered with Dwelling, a member of Aid to Artisans, a nonprofit organization that provides a link between artisans and the marketplace. Dwelling is dedicated to creating long-term economic opportunities for crafts people in Africa and Haiti; and this scarved octopus is handcrafted by a member of the Kenana Knitters group, in Kenya, from 100% home spun wool, dyed with natural plant dye, and signed by the woman who knitted it.

As this plush ornament is handmade, each is unique and appearance will vary. Imported.

Knit Octopus Ornament 5 5 1 1
Totally adorable ornament. Also, for backpack or tote! This little ornament is high-quality hand knit. It is just terrific. I am now buying one for both my sisters. I just love that it is made of HOME SPUN wool. If you want to give it as a gift, there is a nice touch: a little tag attached to the ornament that explains that it was knit in Kenya by rural women (the "Kenana Knitters"). I also think it would be really cute on a backpack or tote in winter, after reinforcing the hanging loop for extra-duty. February 23, 2013
