Decent Jacket - but the Sleeves!
Like other reviewers, I love the jacket, but the sleeves are a HUGE problem. My 7 year old (who is tall and skinny) received this as a gift in Big Girl Small. Even so, the sleeves are way to long and she complains all the time about not being able to get her arm in the fleece lining while it is attached to the parka. The fleece by itself is fine, but I think the sleeves of the parka are too narrow to comfortably fit the fleece and an arm in it. The fleece lining is constantly being twisted around inside the parka and she can never get her arm in or out without a big production.
And now that it's Spring, she shed the parka and has been wearing just the fleece - the zipper fell off. I will be sending this back. I don't know if I have to send the whole jacket or just the fleece.
The jacket did keep her warm throughout our cold winter and during the ski season.

It doesn't fit well
I was so excited when I saw this jacket (size 7/8) at my local store for less than 1/3 of the price! I immediately bought it and I was surprised when my 7year old (currently wears a 6x jacket) put it on and the sleeves were a little too long (not a big deal for me) but the waist was very narrow. I know it has to be fitted but I thought the zipper was going to break if she sat down (specially if she has a sweater inside). I guess if your daughter is really skinny and tall this jacket could be perfect. I will have to return it :(

great for my toddler
This jacket is great for my toddler! She is 3 years old, and the 4T fits her great, with a little room to grow! She used just the fleece in the fall, and uses both jackets in the winter. It keeps her really warm. I like that it's long, so that when she plays in the snow, it protects her. We both love the color!

Sleeves are annoying
Like other reviewers i am very unhappy with how the fleece doesn't stay connected to the outer shell. My daughter becomes very frustrated with this and needs help with untangling the sleeves all the time. This should not be happening with the usual quality of lands end. I am very disappointed. It has become a chore for my daughter to wear this, which is too bad, if the inner fleece was somehow attached better, say w snaps we would love it!

Very warm good quality
It does the job! Really like this jacket w room for my 8yo to grow. Sleeves have wrist wind guards in fleece- which she loves!

Sadly, we must be in between sizes.
My daughter has this jacket in a 6x, but it really is getting too small/tight on her to wear any longer; so I bought the next size up, which is a 7-8 and it is just way too big. I am sad there is not a plain size 7 option instead of this combined sizing - what are people supposed to do when a 6x no longer fits, but an 8 is just too much? Sadly, we will be returning this coat and looking elsewhere.

Great coat
We bought this for my 7 year-old daughter. She loves it and it is warm and waterproof. My only complaint is that when she takes it off, the sleeves of the fleece come out of the sleeve of the liner and we have to constantly put the sleeves back in. My NorthFace ski coat has a loop on the liner by the sleeve cuff and there is a piece of fabric on the fleece with a snap that goes through the loop and snaps to keep the arm of the fleece from coming up the sleeve when taking off the coat. I would give this coat 5+ stars if they included this in their design. Otherwise it is a great, warm, durable coat and I'd still buy another even with the design flaw.

Better in Pieces
This is my pre-schooler's second season using this jacket.
We love the versatility of the separate pieces; the fleece has proven itself over and over during cooler spring weather and on cool summer evenings.
The shell is great during drizzly weather. This is not a full replacement for a raincoat during heavy rain but it sheds light rain and snow without a problem.
That said, the two pieces together are pretty average. I agree with the other reviewer criticism of the velcro connectors at the cuff. They are not secure and we spend a lot of time turning the sleeves right side out or threading the fleece sleeve back into the shell.
The fleece layer seems to narrow the parka's sleeves a bit. This has limited our layering options to long-sleeved shirts + a light sweater at best.
We live in the mid-atlantic area and winters aren't too harsh. I can imagine the narrow sleeves might be more of an issue in a harsher climate.
My child is growing out of this jacket and we probably won't buy it again.
However, that jacket with a down liner described by another reviewer? We'd be all over that!

Way too cumbersome and aggravating.
I've always loved Lands End for its quality and customer service...since my daughter was born I've bought every winter coat and every backpack here. The coat that we bought two years ago was awesome, completely perfect in every way, and my daughter LOVED it, so we were all set to buy it again in a bigger size. Unfortunately it appears to have been discontinued, so we went with this coat. Initially it seemed fine b/c she wore the pieces separately. It wasn't as nice as her previous coat, but it seemed fine. On some days she wore the inside liner, and other days she wore the outside liner.
Recently we had to put the two pieces together because it's getting cold now- nightmare!!! The inside liner almost seems bigger than the outside and it's driving my daughter nuts- to the point that she now refuses to wear the jacket. It's WAYY too cumbersome to deal with...she can't put it on by herself b/c it always requires an adult present to untangle the pieces and attempt to straighten it out again. The inside sleeves are way too long for the outside and they are either jammed up inside- making the sleeves too tight- or bulging out below the cuffs- it's horrible, and unmanageable. The pieces are sliding all over the place making it tight across her chest and this is before she even tries to slide in her long sleeve or sweater-covered arm w/ out having them jammed all of the way up into her armpit. Now my daughter simply refuses to wear it at all- who has time to make putting on and taking off a coat such an "event" multiple times a day!
Before anyone asks- yes, I have everything properly zipped/hooked/looped/velcroed/etc. The coat is horrible and I would LOVE to return it.
