Great for tall kids.
I got these for my four year old because she is very tall for her age and one piece bathing suits can be too small for her, even in a size 5. I got these in a five and they fit great, my daughter wore them all day on a boat and was very comfortable. They fit great and I think she has a little room to grow. They are also super cute!!

more swim shorts options please!
I really liked how these fit and provide comfort and modesty. However, the attached bikini bottom for the white color is also white, and therefore it is somewhat see-through, and I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them wet.

Cute, stylish and modest
It seems Lands' End has issues with their swim bottoms. Almost every one I've bought runs small, some extremely small. Everyone has the same complaints about fit. PLEASE FIX THIS. I bought these shorts last year for my daughter and they held up very well. She is comfortable in them playing and swimming - at the beach and pool. I've bought her swimsuits from Lands' End since she was a toddler because they are one of the few places that have cute, stylish swimwear that is modest too. I wish they had more this year, but for some reason they don't have as big of a modest selection as in years past. We always get compliments on my daughter's suits. I wish they had more of the cute rashguards this year instead of just the plain solid colors. Even the older girls like some of the ruffles and cute designs, not just the solids and appliques on the front. We also like Lands' End because the bottoms and suits cover well for modesty and sun protection. It's much easier to only have to put sunscreen on her arms and legs instead of her back, chest, etc. But again, PLEASE BRING BACK THE BIGGER SELECTION AND IN SIZES THAT ARE TRUE AND FIT.

HUGE Elastic Back creates a high waisted short with a poofy hip
These shorts would be perfect if they didnt have the elastic back. The elastic is almost 1 1/2 inches wide creating a thick band across the back which forces the shorts to sit exactly at the waist. Board shorts should sit at the hips, unless you like the high waisted "mom jeans" look on your daughter. The waistband also creates a POOF at the hip, because the band is tight and the shorts come outcome out of those pleats with some volume. The result is a high waisted short with a poofy hip and butt. If the shorts had a drawstring, the issue would be resolved completely. The fabric and tailoring is otherwise good which is why I gave it 1 star.

Dries quickly, great for summer camp
Purchased these in white last year and my daughter loved them so much we got new ones in pink. Her twin sister loves them and ordered turquoise. They were great for camp as the field trips were to water parks and could be worn over their swimsuit.
