Skimpy, compared to years prior
I used to love the LE kids swim stuff for my daughter, but the quality in this swim mini is definitely not up to previous seasons. The skirt is VERY skimpy. I'm not expecting the skirt to reach the knees, but the previous summers, I could send her to camp wearing a swim skirt on the bottom without needing a coverup. The skirt on this one only clears her underwear area by about two inches. It's more of an afterthought ruffle on a bikini bottom. Also, the material is much thinner quality and is not hemmed. I can see it running after a few washings. I will be returning all of these to LE.
Lands End: I'd be willing to pay more for the old quality swim minis that were longer, hemmed, and better quality material.

Go for the skirt that is lined/hemed
I've been buying these sets or the last 4 years. I was disappointed that there was only solid colors in the long sleeve. Since the skirt is not lined/hemmed, it sticks to the kids legs

Unflattering inappropriate fit
I love Land's End swimwear and always purchase it for my girls due to quality and durability. However, this skirt is completely missing the mark on fit. I purchased a size 5 for my almost 5-year-old daughter. The length of the skirt is long, due to the low rise of the waistline. It barely covers her bottom and exposes her if she moves. It also falls below her belly, again leaving her exposed inappropriately for this age. The material hangs strangely and seems to be unfinished. I am sending back the skirt, the color block top that I purchased to match it, and the rash guard.
On a side note, please have coordinating bottoms for your rash guards!!! My girls need to wear rash guards every day and there are no coordinating colors. The purple peace sign rash guard doesn't match the purple bottoms you offer. Please offer coordinating sets!

colors faded quickly
I bought the pink striped tankini and matching pink skirt for my daughter. She wore it 6 times in 2 different hotel pools and the color faded significantly! I understand that hotels use very strong chemicals in their pool, but I didn't expect the colors to fade so quickly. Thankfully Lands End has a great return policy and I did return the swim suit. I purchased the same suit again because it fit her so perfectly. It is very modest and covers her whole stomach. I'm curious to see if it fades again.

low rise in the front for children's swimwear?
i just got this for my 10 year old so i cannot attest to the durability. however, i am so disappointed. everything about this skirt is super cute except for the extreme low rise in the front. this suit is for a little girl. there is really no need to expose lower tummies. i will order the next size up but after reading reviews, i am not hopeful that will solve the problem.

Needs hemming
Bought this for my tall & slender 6 year old who normally wears a size 8. I ordered size 8 and it fits fine. The crotch does seem wide enough. I only wish it was hemmed. It would look more polished that way.

Cute and Covers!
I didn't have a sizing problem with this swim skirt. My almost 7 year old wears a 6/7 in street shorts/pants and the size 7 swim skirt fit fine although she could probably wear the size 6 comfortably, too. The external stitching on the panty part (as previous reviews have mentioned) is essential in keeping the child comfortable. It doesn't bother me how the stitching looks because my daughter should not be flashing the panty lining (I hope!). The panty covers everything well; not too thin in the crotch and covers her bottom well. The skirt makes it feminine, especially since I have her wearing the long sleeve rash guard with it (which is not as feminine, but is great sun protection!). Can't speak yet on the color fading, but that isn't so important to me. I don't know many fabric colors that can stand up to a summer full of sun and chlorine!

Love them except fades and stretches fast.
My daughter will not wear one-pieces, bikini bottoms or swim shorts, so these are perfect. We can't find swim skirts for girls anywhere else. Not only are these skirts, they also provide more coverage than shorts (slightly longer).
My daughters have swimming lessons once a week and I always hand wash with a mild soap afterwards to get the chlorine out and line dry them. But even then, these will fade, stretch out and get thin after a few wears. Good thing kids grow fast because these would not hold up for more than one season. I usually hand down clothes from my older to younger, but these could never be handed down because they wear out so fast.
Despite the quality issues, I still give it a 4 rating because it's cute and it's a skirt that actually gives some coverage.

Skirt is not hemmed - completely disappointed in Land's End!
The skirt of the Swim Mini's aren't hemmed. When I called customer service, they stated that "it is just the style this year." It looks unfinished and uneven. I am very disappointed in Land's End. To save a few bucks, they reduced the quality of the finished product. I always purchase Land's End bathing suits for my children because of the quality. I will be rethinking that decision now.

Wide and VERY low rise.
The fit on this swim bottom is very disappointing. I bought a size 5 top and swim skirt for my 4 year old daughter who is right in the middle of the size range measurements. The top is long and very narrow and the bottom is very wide and barely pulls up over her bottom. The two pieces in the same size would not fit the same child! I love the style and color, but just can't believe the fit is really what Land's End intended. Such a low rise bottom is not really appropriate for this age of child. I wont be buying swimwear from Land's End until they change the bottom fit - or provide a higher coverage option.
