Very cute dress
My 7 yr old is slightly above average height and on the slim side. The size 8 is a perfect fit! It definitely is a little more stylish in cut that the older style and a bit shorter. It looks very nice on her and she loves it. I don't notice a difference in quality of the material. It has washed well.

Love the Updates!
After reading the other reviews I guess I am in the minority. I love the updated style of this dress! I agree the fabric is a bit thinner but I like it because it makes it a bit more crisp. And our daughter always wears the leggings underneath and I think they look even cuter with this a-line style. It is a nice, more modern, approach versus the pleats. We have had MANY of the old style, and there was nothing wrong with those, but I don't think there is anything wrong with this one either. Maybe I just like it because it was a bit different? At any rate, my 9 year old loves it too. She has been wearing the pink/navy daisy print with navy leggings. I am actually back online to order more. One note: The a-line style seems to run a bit smaller than the pleated style.

Love this dress for my slim daughter
I saw the other reviews and I can't compare the old style, but my ( 6 1/2) daughter is tall and slim and looks fabulous in this dress. She always receives complements and she loves the soft fabric. It is a favorite for us.

Not what it used to be
I agree with other reviewers -- please bring back the old style and fabric. This fabric is flimsy and this cut doesn't hold a shape at all. In past years all of my girls wore LE dresses and we had compliments everywhere we went. Now I can't even talk them into wearing these as they are not as soft and comfy as they used to be and not nearly as warm for the fall/winter. Please, LE, stay with your quality and style!

Bring back the old style
I have to agree with many of the other reviews. I purchased this dress after reading about the cut of the dress being different from the dress of the past and didn't think it could be that bad. I was wrong.
The new a-line cut without the gathering at the seam makes the dress just hang on my daughter. Furthermore, the pockets now stick out because the waist seam is flat.
The material seems to be the same weight as the dresses of the past, but looks cheaper and thinner due to the lack of detail. The dress has lost it's charm even with colorful tights or leggings, it just looks like my daughter is wearing an a-line pillowcase.
I hope Land's End brings back the old cut of the dress next year. This one didn't work for me.

Very thin fabric
My daughter loves the LE dress we got her last year. Unfortunately this one is much thinner fabric and will need leggings. OK as a casual dress but we were expecting better.
