Take a close look at these hotel-style towels - zoom in on the different textures. The soft-looking bands at the ends are cut-pile velour. All the rest is rice weave. Those short, tightly packed plied loops - where most of the drying gets done - make the towels weighty and substantial. At 700 grams per square meter, they absorb moisture instantly. And because the towels are woven from Egyptian cotton - one of the longest-staple varieties available - the yarns have fewer ends, so they last longer (and leave less lint in the dryer) than towels woven to be soft and fluffy.
