Turned out to be great...
I was looking for a pad that was all cotton but had difficulty finding one. I hesitated to keep this one because of its larger size, but did so because it seemed so nice construction-wise and to-the-touch. I wash it as directed and generally dry it all the way. Over time (6 months) it has shrunk a bit and is much closer to a good fit. I don't think it will continue to shrink, since there's still some play to it. There is enough fluff to it so it adds a bit of softness to my firm mattress. I am happy with the purchase.

No paper towel fabric included
This is an all fabric mattress pad: the top, the underneath, and the sides. The sides are good and deep to fit over our king size pillow top mattress and still go underneath the mattress to automatically cinch up with the all around elastic. Sleeping on the cotton pad is so much better than polyester. I have a full size on the guest bedroom full size mattress and love it. It is probably 10 years old, and still looks and feels great. Not sure why the complaints about size, mine fit great. Maybe they are not tucking the sides underneath the mattress for the cinching snug affect.

excellent quality, quite oversized, still worth it
I bought this 2 summers ago for the king size bed at my summer home. It was wayyyyyy OVERSIZED so I called customer service to discuss the situation. They asked me to try something: Wash it in hot water and dry it in a hot dryer. Send it back if I'm not pleased with the result. I washed & dried it; the pad shrank quite a bit. Put it back on. It's still big but manageable, so I kept it. (besides, I can't think of the last time I was able to find a 100% cotton bed pad) On my own year-round home, I have a cheaper poly/cotton mattress pad that is about 12" short of being long enough. Given a choice of cheap materials/too short vs. excellent materials/too long, I'll take the Land's End version any day.
4 stars for quality of item and good customer service ; 1 star short of excellent because it's too big.
And seriously, Lands End, there are LOTS of complaints about being too big on this review page. Why don't you just FIX iT?

Would Be 5+ Sails if It Fit Properly
This mattress pad has the potential to be outstanding. Too bad it doesn't fit, so it bunches up under the sheets. I have a queen sized bed with a 13 inch thick mattress. When I put this pad on, and put the top corners at the top of the mattress, the bottom corners are at least 8 inches past the end of the bed. I understand allowing extra for thick mattresses, but the top of a queen sized bed should be the same everywhere. I have this problem with Lands End sheets, too. This one is going back. I found a nice one at a competitor that fits really well.

More than ample
This queen size mattress pad arrived quickly. I'd say they are deep pockets!!! No tugging, pulling, straining. Instead there's a lot of extra material to tuck. I like that. The loft is just right. Excellent! Thank you Land's End!

Great buy
I purchased the king size of this item almost two years ago, hoping it would be more comfortable for my husband to sleep on during warm weather. He likes it a lot, as it helps keep him cooler. I like it a lot also. It fits our mattress perfectly (we have a pillow top) and it washes up beautifully. I am about to purchase another.

Strange sizing
In more than 35 years of purchasing sheets, mattress pads etc. for a Queen size bed I have never had problems with anything I purchased fiting a 60 by 80 bed standard Queen size mattress. With todays mattress depths being so variable I might expect a problem with that. In this case I found that your mattress pad was for a 64 x 84 mattress, which does not result in a pad that actually fits and would stay in place on the smaller mattress. When I returned to the order page I see that you note the 64X84 inch size but I suspect I would not be the only person who missed that difference.

A good buy & works just perfect for us
It is interesting how customers can have such different responses to the same product.
Noting the poor rating of the other two reviews posted here, I'll offer up that my husband and I thought this was a very good buy for a nearly 100% cotton mattress cover at the full price. And when LE has sales, as when we bought ours, this is almost a steal of a deal.
We had been looking for a cotton mattress cover to use on a new, plush top mattress. So we didn't want the mattress cover itself too be too thick, just to provide a good cover for the King mattress. And to also fit the deep mattress pockets. This cover filled the bill on all counts.
Given we'd been shopping at brick and mortar retailers, when we took this mattress cover out of the LE packaging we had comparables in mind to know the good value of this one.
Right out of the box this was just a bit oversized for our King mattress. But 100% cotton products shrink up a bit in a warm water wash and low dryer, and so this one did too. Just enough to be a good fit.
If you're looking for a thick cover, it is not this one. If you are looking for a high thread count cotton cover, it is not this one. But if you're looking for a solid 200 thread count, well made cotton mattress cover at a good price, this works great. On our plush mattress and with our 1000 thread count sheets over top of it, just perfect for us.

Not all natural fibers
The product description says 100% cotton, but the tag on the product says the batting is 95% cotton, 5% polypropylene. I am so disappointed that it is misrepresented here, so I have to give it a rating of 1.
