NO to the velcro
My boy wouldn't wear these because of the velcro front closure. And he will only wear shorts that come to his knees, so I thought the length would be great. But he said they were too long, well past his knees. If your boy doesn't mind the velcro and is tall, the quality is great. Otherwise, choose a pair with full elastic.

Great Swimwear
This is the usual quality swim short for boys. I returned this pair since I accidentally ordered a "big boys" size rather than a "little boys" size again. (Wish Lands End's site didn't make this so easy to do.) But, I've purchased several of these swim trunks and have been satisfied with the fit and durability. I really appreciate the "slim" sizing -- there are few options for a slender child these days.

Perfect for slim boys that like their bathing suits long in the leg
I bought "slim" , size 8 for my 10 year-old. He is small for his age and they fit perfectly. The suit has an adjustable waist, so size 10 might have worked, but I think they would have been too long on him. He loves them and we've received so many compliments on them.

Loved the look, hated the velcro fly.
I bought these in navy and loved how they looked on my 6 year old son: classic, crisp, and streamlined. However, when he took them off the tie came out and the velcro opened all the way down the fly. I had him take them on and off several times (because I loved the look of them so much) but, it was very frustrating and took considerable time for him to re-close them. I would not recommend these for little boys.

Very Happy with the trunks
It took several tries with sizing, but we got it right with these. My son is 8, lean and tall but generally pretty true to his size. These are long but that's the style he likes them as do i. The slim was too tight for him, the drawstring keeps these up with out looking puckered. Good value,

Would not buy again
My boys have worn only Lands End swimwear for years. I would NOT buy this style again. My son hates the way the velcro closure feels against his bare skin. Also, I hate the adjustable waist (wish I had read description better, I would not have bought if I had noticed the waist was not elastic like all the other swimwear I have purchased). The waist does adjust OK but the open area in the waistband does nothing but collect large quantities of sand! This suit is constantly dropping sand no matter how thoroughly I wash it!!

great fit! Brilliant
the inside adjustable waist is brilliant. My son is tall and skinny and I can't buy any bottoms without the hidden adjustable waist band. This is the first swim trunk that I have found with this option. Brilliant. Color is bright and great for keeping track of him at a crowded beach or pool! Ordered them in the next size up for the future!
