Wondering if we can return this...
My son likes this coat, but only without the lining, which defeats the purpose!
The fleece sleeves make it very hard to get on and off. The Velcro tabs that attach the fleece lining to the coat failed after about three wears. First time we've been disappointed in a Lands End coat. :-(

Dissappointed in this one!!!
My sons Squall from last year was great! He loved it, until the zipper broke. I will send it back to LE but in the mean time we had to run out and get a coat fast. We bought this on January 2nd, this is the first time we tried a 3 in 1. I hate it, he hates it, his teacher doesn't even like it. He is a first grader, and the sleeves of the fleece liner are a problem like other reviewers have stated. Stay away! We are sending it back now because the zipper broke!!! What is going on Lands End???

Sleeve/arm design doesn't work. Bad design.
My son can't squeeze his hands in and out of the fleece wrist openings without frustrations and assistance. It is "choke-y" to him. Taking it off, the sleeves turn inside out which makes it frustrating the next time he puts it on. Other 3in1 coats have a snap system at the wrists and collar to prevent this from happening. This is a design flaw. I am returning it despite the great deal I got.

Will not purchase again!
I have purchased about 6 of these coats for my 2 sons. In the past the down liner was easy to layer with the outer shell. However, the fleece liner this year makes it impossible to wear more than a t- shirt!

Horrid sleeves
I had to buy my son a different coat, he could not get the coat on and off at school. Such a bad sleeve design, the liner kept coming in and out. We did sew it in, but still was tricky to get on and off.

Meh. Prefer the Squall Waterproof jacket
I just purchased this in the store at a great discount for next year for my average sized 6 year old son. Unfortunately, I forgot that I had bypassed it previously after reading reviews. My son currently has the waterproof Squall jacket with the quilted (slippery) sleeves. He liked the look and feel of the this carrot colored new parka, loved the thumb hole, but had trouble getting it off. The sleeves just stuck on him. He was wearing only a regular long sleeve knit shirt, and the coat was one size too big. Despite the bargain I think I need to return it, since it's only a bargain if he actually wears it. Maybe next year Land's End will line the sleeves of the fleece jacket to ease removal.

Shame that the coat is IMPOSSIBLE to get on or off
My 11 year old son is slim, he has no problem getting other coats on or off. I am so disappointed that he can't get this on or off. In hindsight, we tried this on in the Fall and he likely had a tshirt on. Well with a long sleeve shirt (FORGET ABOUT A SWEATSHIRT), he can barely get this on/off. The fleece liner is so form-fitted.
This coat will work only as a liner. The sleeves are far too narrow. And I am not asking for a bulky, huge arms type of coat. Just normal arm thickness, please! Again, my son is slim, very slim, not muscular. Do not buy this coat unless your son has extremely skinny arms, he won't be able to get it on or off without a lot of frustration. And even when he finally gets it on, he is uncomfortable. Great materials, sturdy velcro and zipper, waterproof and warm. But the fit is just too slim, for even a slim person.

3 in 1 from two years ago MUCH better
Landend PLEASE stop doing the fleece liners. Please go back to the nylon quilted with the zip off sleeves. Children cannot get this coat on and off. You did this with the rain coast as well and they do not work. The "Star Wars" 3 in 1 with the faux fur hood was UNBEATABLE, truly the best coat EVER! And I known you would not re-do, I would have bought them in every size.

New Fleece Liner is Horrible, Used to be Great
I already wrote a review of this coat about the change from the heavy-duty metal snaps to the cheesy velcro attachments for the liner. I thought that was the main problem with my kids not being able to put these coats on and off. I realize now that it's the change from the puffy liner which was made of nylon to the fleece liner. So LE made two changes that ruined this coat....they changed the attachments and they changed the liner. I have bought so many of these coats, no more. Used to be a great product, not anymore.

Sleeves are a big issue
As other reviewers have stated, the sleeves are an issue. The sleeves of the inner liner are fleece, and there's no lining on the inside, so my small son's and daughter's shirt sleeves get caught on the fleece and bunch up, and the liner sleeves themselves bunch up inside the outer shell because there's only one little (ineffective) velcro strap holding them in place. Then, they have trouble getting the coats off themselves, so I have to help them get dressed and undressed to go outside, though they're generally independent enough to do this with minimal help from me. If designers were to add a slippery material to the inside of the fleece sleeves and add another fastener to keep them in place inside the shell, this would be a great coat. As it is, I'm excited for my kids to outgrow theirs so we can try a different style. Unfortunately, I bought them big, so we'll have to stick with this for this season and next. At least I got them on sale.
