Boys' Iron Knee® Pull-on Canvas Pants 3.1 5 63 63
Prefer these to the climbers I was worried when I saw reviews that people preferred the older climber pants. My son has worn the climbers for years. But I thought we'd try since there is a no hassle return policy. We got them and I love the styling. Lots of thought went into these pants - the iron knees, pull tabs by the snaps on pockets and fly, a snap not a button, reinforced stitching on the heel side of the cuff. I prefer this canvas to the old climber as it seems softer, and still seems high quality. I was worried the snap/zipper fly would open when my son was using them as a pull-up pant ... But they stayed closed. Yay! They fit my son perfectly - although I order slightly larger than he needs to get more 'wear' time out of them. The new design allows me to sinch the waist - so it is perfect! My son loves the comfort and style. He, like a lot of people who bought the climber pants, has fine motor issues with buttons/zippers - so these will continue to be on the must-have list for him until he grows out of the size 20! My husband would like you to make them in men's sizes! Thanks! August 19, 2012
New Style Is Different - But I LIKE Them! My son is medium built and wears Little Boy size 6. The elastic waist is bigger on these then the old style and cannot adjust - they fit my son nicely. But if your child is slim these will probably not work without an adjustable waist. The material is also lighter/ not as heavy as the old style - but still sturdy. I happen to like this because we live in a warmer climate - but I know some prefer the heavier weight. So overall these work for us but I can see how they would not be acceptable for others. must be very durable pants they are exactly as descrived by LE May 29, 2013
Fits well and are comfortable. My son loves these pants. I just keep buying them because they are excellent quality and extremely durable. May 14, 2013
Slim size not slim enough I have a tall, slim, 6 year old. The slim size is too big in the waist and there is no adjustment like the old climbers had. My son is constantly pulling up his pants, and he can forget about running in them. We miss the old climbers! May 4, 2013
I had high hopes... I had really hoped that these would be great, durable pants. Unfortunately the "iron knees" have not been as strong as I'd hoped. I purchased 4 pairs: 2 navy, 1 darker brown and 1 pair of denim. I just returned the first pair of the navy pants as my son has worn completely through the knee to the "iron" patch. The next three pairs are soon to follow, they are almost worn through to the patch. The pants are also made out of very stiff fabric, they haven't softened much at all with multiple washings, however they have faded +++ and turned almost whitish around the seams and hems. The fit was ok. I also ordered 2 pairs of Iron Knee corduroy pants and they seem to be holding up much better, no sign of wear at the knees yet and no fading. May 2, 2013
SO disappointed I didnt read enough reviews and missed the part about the NON adjustable waistband for the little boys sizes. I bought them in slim and was so disappointed when there was no adjustable waist? Why would the little boys not need them or want them too, especially ones who need a slim cut to start with? I have a super slim boy and an adjustable waistband is a MUST Have. These are going back. Oddly enough the shorts that are of similar style and material and are also sold in slim have the adjustable waistband but the pants dont? I cant figure out why? Please lands end....make more slim styles all year long. There is a market for them since they are so incredibly hard to find. April 22, 2013
Thes pants actually FIT! These pants seem to be of excellent quality, and they look good and stylish on my son. Most importantly - they FIT my tall, slim 4-year old, whereas most pants are huge in the waist, if they're long enough in the leg. April 15, 2013
These are OK, but I wouldn't purchase again I really don't like the fabric - it's very stiff and doesn't look neat when wearing. They really need to be ironed, I guess, but I just don't have time. I try to purchase clothes that don't require it. The cargo pockets have one snap on one corner of each flap, so they won't lay flat - they curl up. Plus it makes the flaps harder to open and close. Velcro closures and tabs would be much better. I'm just not impressed with the look. LE sells several pants that are much better. March 26, 2013
Just okay... These pants are okay, but PLEASE, Land's End, bring back the cargo climbers! My son isn't crazy about the material, and the snap pockets are much worse than the velcro closures on the older version of these pants. My son has worn the cargo climbers since he was little and is feeling very lost without them. March 5, 2013
