these are too hot for real summers!
First let me say that my son loves the bright colors and softness of Lands End shorts so without "testing" these, I went ahead and bought 3 pairs, all in absolutely lovely colors-- especially since colors for boys tend to be so limited sometimes. The problem is they are way too thick! Even my son who is 5 commented on how "warm" these looked and asked me if they were really for summer. Indeed they are no different than the winter version of these; just shorter. Since I live overseas it would cost me way too much money to return them, but I am not sure what use we will get out of them. Perhaps if we visit a cold European city in the summer-- but then again, wouldn't he just need long pants? Too bad. Honestly I dont know who could have thought that this material is ok for summer anywhere... in THIS lentgh.

The waist is a bit snug
My little guy finds many shorts and pants uncomfortable. He has not complained about these at all. I do find the waist just a bit snug.

great weekend shorts
I got these for my son to hang around in on the weekends. They are soft and comfy. A little long but still great.

Great shorts!
These seem to be made of the same wonderful material as LE Kids' hooded sweatshirts -- substantial but soft. Very well-made in terms of sewing quality. I have already washed them and they have not shrunk or pilled. My son has tried them on (it 's still too cold to wear them outside) and loves the way they feel. They're not exactly inexpensive, but I'd rather pay extra for something that's well-made and lasts longer. I took advantage of "buy 2 or more and save" deal.
