As industry prices increase other retailers are either turning to synthetic alternatives or getting rid of down items entirely. The other guys might be getting out, but we’re still getting down. We continue to offer the best value in down outerwear with 600 fill-power feather insulation (the higher, the better insulating ability) to keep kiddos warm without a lot of weight. And we use our special water-repellent finish to keep them dry. With plenty of pockets for stowing hats and gloves and our cool-kid retro styling so he can stand out in the elements.

Boys' Down Puffer Jacket 3.7 5 21 21
Great Coat So far we are really happy with this jacket. A couple of reasons we like it - it's actually filled with down. Look around at most other kids retailers and their "down" jackets are synthetic, polyester, etc. The few out there that do have real down are much more expensive than this jacket...I feel this was a good deal for quality material. The fill power of the down means it keeps kids warmer without the bulk. My toddler son hates big bulky jackets so it's great that we got a jacket that keeps him as warm or warmer but without the extra fabric. Also like that the hood fits well around his face and is adjustable, and like the wrist cuffs. The temperature rating for this jacket is -10 to 25 F....we live near D.C. and this is more than adequate for our winters. Maybe if you live in Minnesota or get tons of snow you need something more heavy duty but if you get a few snows a year and temperatures don't usually get lower than the 20s this jacket should more than meet your winter needs. On sizing - we got this for my son a month before he turned 3. He's tall but skinny for his age and the 2T fit him well. November 27, 2012
Great Jacket Year After Year We have purchased this jacket for our son for years. We live in Indiana and it has always been adequately warm. The jacket is very lightweight which is great for wearing with a backpack and stuffing into a cubbie at school. He loves the SnowGuard wrist cuffs on the sleeves and made a point of checking his jacket for the year to make sure it had them. He is tall and thin and we have always found the size to be true. The jacket also washes well. In the past this jacket has had a large elastic pocket on the inside under the small velcro pocket. I was disappointed to see the pocket missing this year. It was a great pocket for storing hats and mittens, especially large mittens. With that pocket we had no missing hats or mittens the entire year. Hopefully it will be back next year. It was such a quick and easy place to securely store a hat and mittens. February 20, 2013
Well, first off I buy Land's End often and recommend them to all of my family and friends. I love the look of the jacket and that it is warm. I was hoping that my son could use it for playing in the snow. Well that was not a good idea. He was wet through the jacket after 1 hour of playing. It was disappointing to me. February 12, 2013
It is down(graded) quality This is our third down jacket from Lands End and this style is a bit disapointing. Neither desing nor quality are like before. Last year's jacket was a beautifull bright color, this year the color of lining is so off the jacket color ;apparent savings in material -fleece was cut around the neck and now the jacket is less pratical, we need a scarf; hood cannot be removed - again, apparent savings on material (zip) affecting functionality; they have reduced the number of inside pockets, and I specially miss the big one for gloves and cap; Definitelly not worth the full price ($89) + tax+ shiping+ customs. My son loves this coat I like this jacket, it's nice and warm. It zips and snaps easily. The built in snow blockers are like built in gloves without fingers, they are a nice idea, but my son has trouble getting his own gloves on over them. January 9, 2013
A downgrade from last year This is our 3rd Boy's Land's End Down Jacket. What we like the most is that it's lightweight and thin, yet keeps the body warm. However, this year's design is a downgrade. The "lined neck with fleece" from last year's version was a great, great loss. A jacket which one doesn't have to add a scarf to a child's everyday attire is a plus. Also, I wish the hood was removable--just like last year's jacket. Both the colors and the two chest pockets are unappealing in this one. The slick, simple look of last year's is preferable (and so were the colors). If next year's down jacket is like this one, I will not buy it and will look somewhere else for a lightweight down jacket (with neck fleece lining!). January 8, 2013
Great warm winter coat Great price for this good quality of down winter coat for my 3yr old son!! He loves great and keeps him warm too!! January 5, 2013
This is a nice warm jacket and the color and fit are perfect. The coat is great. My kindergartener loves it. It's easy for him to get on and off. As a mom, I like that it's warm. I also really like that the hood is insulated and fits him well. It also has neat little thumb holes on the sleeves so when he puts his mittens on there is no chance for snow to make it up his sleeve. And he likes it because during recess, when he doesn't have his gloves, he can put his thumb though the holes and get a little more warmth. It's a great coat...I'll definitely be coming back to Lands' End next winter to buy my kids coats again. January 5, 2013
great coat! my son loves it and i love it! great coat! my son loves it and i love it! January 5, 2013
Passed on Lands End this year For 4 winters I have been buying my 6 year old son the Lands End down parka. This year I bought his coat from LL Bean as I was not happy with the "improved" color block parka which has replaced the more classic down coat. I hope that Lands End listens to me and other reviewers who ask that the original coat be back next year. It is truly perfect and needs no improvement. January 1, 2013
