Excellent cords!
I got these in the dark brown color for my 4-year old. They seem to run just a tiny bit small in the waist (he has a small waist to begin with, and these were none too big), but should still fit him for the rest of the school year. They look so cute on him, and seem sturdy enough to hold up to a busy, playful kid. Next time, I think I'll get the 5 Slims for him, though.

Crotch is too short
I used to love these pants. I have 6 boys and I bought them in different colors every year. I loved the fabric and the longevity. My 4 yr old wore some to church the other day that are 5 years old. But this year I ordered some for my 13 yr old as he outgrew all the ones I already had and I was sorely disappointed. The crotch is like a low rise for girls. He was horribly embarrassed. He is going through puberty and shall we say the tight crotch was most unflattering for the onlooker as well as him. Please Lands End bring back the old design. It was bad enough when the girl section went to modern. My daughter is 15 and it is a nightmare to find clothes for her, but now my boys too. If I wanted to buy skin tight inappropriate clothing for my children I would go to the department store. I expect the quality and taste level here to be much higher. I can't thank you enough for keeping the bug tees, they are awesome but the selection is going down. It's like only the uniform clothes kept their original flare. Please consider there are those of us out there, most with 5 kids or more that come here for the classic styling, and we tell our friends. Please keep this a great place to shop for that genre.
