Apostrophe

Have you ever glanced at our catalog cover and noticed something strange, or "wrong"? If you said it's the apostrophe in our logo, you're correct!

A lot of people ask why the apostrophe in Lands' End is in the wrong place. There have been some pretty crazy explanations along the way, but the truth is, it was a printing error. Since we couldn't afford to have the piece reprinted, Gary Comer decided to simply change the name of the business to correspond to the printed piece. In the years since, the misplaced apostrophe has continued to grace our name and our label.
