Our Corporate Social Responsibility

SOCIAL & COMMUNITY OUTREACH

At Lands' End, we have built a strong heritage of giving and making a difference in the communities where we live and work. In an effort to help employees make an even greater impact, the company has an employee volunteerism program through which employees who volunteer for a non-profit organization are rewarded with a matching donation back to the non-profit organizations of their choice. This allows our employees to not only donate their time to causes they are passionate about, but to extend an extra hand through a financial contribution.

Lands' End recently initiated a company-wide volunteer effort, partnering with Habitat for Humanity to provide a deserving family with a house in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Over the course of the next year, all employees will have the opportunity to help out at the project site or help at our offsite locations. As a way to encourage participation in this worthy cause, we are offering our employees significant financial incentives based on their hours of service.

Lands' End partners with the American Red Cross to host onsite blood drives, babysitting classes, swimming lessons, CPR and First Aid classes, as well as workshops for child care providers. In 2006, the Red Cross presented Lands' End with the Corporate Good Samaritan Award for our charitable acts, donations, and financial contributions. Lands' End also supports the Emergency Services Division of the local Red Cross by providing clothing to families that have been impacted by natural disasters.

Lands' End partners with a number of cultural organizations in the communities in which we live and work (Madison Symphony, Summer Concert Series in Dodgeville, Stevens Point and Reedsburg etc.).

Lands' End also partners with organizations that provide families with parenting, literacy and health classes (Family Resource Center of Iowa County, YWCA of Madison).

Lands' End conducts food drives and collects gifts for underprivileged families during the holiday season. The company donates clothing in support of underprivileged families as well.

Lands' End makes providing a donation to the United Way easy for employees through an automatic payroll deduction in addition to the company's own charitable contribution to the organization.

In 2006 Lands' End shipped thousands of clothing items and fabric to various non-profit groups. Many church groups use the hemming scraps to make charity quilts.

Code of Vendor Conduct
Lands' End goes anywhere in the world to find partners who are able to give us the best combination of quality, price and service that will allow us to deliver honest value to our customers. In this global environment, we take an interest in the standards of our business partners around the world. Compliance with Lands' End Standards of Business Conduct is a condition for becoming and remaining a business partner of Lands' End. We take special care in selecting partners who follow fair, decent and legal labor practices, agree to our Standards of Business Conduct, and are dedicated to producing a quality product.

Our business partners are required to provide full access to their facilities and to relevant records relating to employment practices, such as but not limited to child labor, wages and benefits, forced labor, discrimination, freedom of association, unlawful inducements, safe and healthy working conditions and the compliance of all legal requirements involved in conducting their business.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION EFFORTS

Paper Consumption
Lands' End has implemented a multi-year initiative to reduce paper consumption by sending smaller catalogs to better-defined customer segments based on those customers' preferences.

Through our commitment, we have reduced our catalog paper consumption by more than 30 percent over the last three years. We've accomplished this through a number of efforts and we are constantly improving our technology to achieve even greater gains in this area.

Lands' End offers customers the option to select the number of catalogs they receive each year (once a year, quarterly or bi-monthly).

Lands' End believes in the responsible use of natural resources. Our preference is to work with suppliers that practice sustainable forestry. We continue to work within the supply chain to promote certification of forests and the use of chain of custody certification to track the certified fiber.

We have increased the use of certified fiber we use and the amount of recycled paper used in our catalog materials. Lands' End catalog cover paper now contains at least 10 percent post-consumer recycled content. Additionally, the company has used 30 percent post consumer waste copy paper at our corporate office for the past ten years.

Lands' End is improving how we ship our products to customers. Between 2003 and 2006, we've reduced the amount of corrugated cardboard packaging we use by 25 percent year over year. Additionally, the corrugated cardboard we do use contains 45 percent recycled fiber.

Waste Management and Recycling
Currently, we have a broad range of recycling and waste management initiatives at our corporate office to address paper products, aluminum cans, glass and plastic as well as printing operations, maintenance operations, disposal of non-recyclables and water management. We consistently monitor our efforts in each of these areas and constantly look for improvements.

In 2006 Lands' End recycled 345 tons of paper and 4,256 tons of corrugated cardboard.

Lands' End implemented water saving measures at our corporate office by installing motion sensor faucets.

Approximately 1.8 tons of unusable electronic equipment was refurbished or recycled.

Purchasing Recycled Products
Purchasing recycled products is a significant component of the larger recycling picture. Lands' End continues to maintain an assertive program to buy non-catalog paper products made from recycled materials. Other materials purchased with recycled content include: re-charged laser printer cartridges, file folders, paper towels, toilet paper, trash cans, pencils, letter holder trays and brown manila envelopes.

Ride Share Program
Lands' End has a ride share program to match employees interested in carpooling.
