We thought you'd like a little insight into the lengths we go to develop and constantly "fine-tune" one of our customers' favorite products. In the following excerpt from our September 1994 catalog, you'll hear from some of the people who guard the quality of our Turtlenecks.

Our Turtle Team goes the extra 200,000 miles to bring you our famous Turtleneck.

"We constantly monitor size and shrinkage tolerances, so you get a good, consistent fit."
— Mary Ann Antonson, Quality
"What really sets us apart is our smooth, seamless neck, proportioned to fit you just right."
— Brad Gillam, Merchandising
"The overall fit is designed for comfort and ease, yet snug enough for easy layering."
— Jane Kelly, Design
"Our XS, XL and Tall sizes extend a broad range to fit nearly everyone."
— Barb Miller, Inventory
"We added just the right amount of Lycra® spandex for maximum resilience and a gentle hug."
— Carol Schmitz, Merchandising

Our road-weary Turtle Team finds there's no substitute for the very direct approach. So they shuttle from Dodgeville to Mt. Airy, North Carolina, every two weeks or so. In addition to relying on phones, fax, and umpteen kinds of mail.

"To make sure we have the details right, we depend on a strong partnership with our suppliers. And that means we need to be there," says Turtlemeister Carol Schmitz.

Because not all turtlenecks are equal. Ours is 100% combed long-staple cotton — or an easy-care 50% cotton / 50% polyester blend — in a lofty and durable interlock knit. And it's up to 10% heavier than many you'll find.

When it comes to quality, we always go the extra mile. Because we don't want to give an inch.
